I just wanted to know would there be any benefit or advantage if when my wife is called for an interview that I also accompany her? Would that help in getting the visa sooner or would it be inconsequential.

Please advise

Thanks!

I've read through a lot of posts and it seems that being it can only be beneficial. In most cases the CO is impressed the USC made the trip to attend, and I can't think of any case where the USC attended and they denied the visa (doesn't mean that doesn't happen, just haven't happened to come across anyone in that situation). Even if you aren't allowed to participate, I would recommend being there if possible

Oh Ok Thanks for that feedback, I'm not a USC yet, still a Perm Resident, my i-130 was approved on June 24, 2013 and since my PD is April 03, 2012 initially I was thinking that its going to take a year more for my wife to get her visa. That's why I decided to go visit her on June 18 and came back here on the 29th last week. During my trip there I found out that the i-130 was approved and that the F2A category is probably going to become current in August b/c of the low volume of demand in this category and the number of unused visas from 2009, 2010, and 2012. So I'm just waiting for the NVC to issue the case number and then I think once the PD becomes current I think they will report the August Visa Bulletin tomorrow (as of July 2013 it was Oct 11, 2011) they will send me the case number and start the whole process and most likely have the interview within a month or two.

Thats why I'm deliberating if its worth it to go back and join my wife during the interview b/c I have some USC relatives whose spouses are stuck in administrative processing b/c of one issue or another so I just dont want to get bogged down in that. I want her to get the visa the day she goes for the interview!

I have done lots of research and came to conclusion that it does not matter for Islamabad embassy if you are there or not..

Thanks - but can you share with me what kind of research did you do - did you talk to many people who already tried it over there?

Thanks

I looked into old timelines and talk to few people who recently attended interview with their events.

Are there any cases where they gave the visa on the day or around the interview day, or are they doing Administrative Processing for almost all people in Islamabad?

I have a USC cousin, his case is in Admin Processing cause his wife wasn't able to give some more accurate information they had requested during the interview and she didn't have the original nikahnama she took a copy instead. Its been more than half a year since her interview and no progress on her case. I'm a LPR so I am being even more careful in preparing my wife's papers and preparing her for the interview.

They will either approve your wife that day or will ask to to AP.

But she will not get her passport / visa that day.

It will be sent via AMEX to you - we got ours a couple / 3 days later.

It can take up to 10 days.

I meant what is the way to avoid going into AP. From I've read a lot of people whose cases look perfect are sent into AP, so is there some formula they use or some random number of people they have to send into AP, apart from of course those who do have some issue with their case.

well - there is no MAGIC sauce it appears - i have been looking at the AP lists in VJ since LONG before i joined.

It appears to come down to previous/current employment, name checks, background checks and previous education history.

If any of these could potentially be of interest to the US govt, then its signaled to be AP - my own opinion but based on what i have seen and read in various articles.

Of course, this does make sense also;...

Ask yourself - does the beneficiary fall into these categories?

The males in Pak fall into the name checks more often as i am sure there will be more names on the hit list that match that womens names.

But the rest is down to personal employment and education history i think....there are going to be thos etypes of work or education that the US needs to be reviewing before they simply allow someone to enter. As sad as it is - thats what it appears to be,

Yea but in my case my wife is the beneficiary and her name is definitely not suspect. But having said that, I've read even many women are thrown into AP thats what I'm concerned about. Going through that for a few months is perhaps doable, but then waiting another year or so is really very harsh if it comes to that.

It brings support like someone above mentioned but generally, these embassies only want to have the beneficiary in the embassy. It is ok to mention that the petitioner is around; if they want, they can request to see him/her.

I plan on being there for my Wifes interview. We can study our mountain of evidence together, etc

I'm actually up for the Stokes interview so we can "Git Her Done" as I'm tired of this separation.
