I've already made a more detailed post over on the UK forums, but I thought I would cast my net wider to see if anyone has any experience where the fiance-sponsor for the I-134 was a PhD student who makes enough money through a research bursary/stipend?

Just wondering if they care that they make enough oney but not technically in an employer-employee relationship!

Thanks,

Zoe

Hello, Zoe,

I have the same question.

My fiance is going to a graduate school, and he is a PhD student with tuition free and stipend.

Even though he earn some money (more than $2,200 a month), but my fiance's mother would be a co-sponsor just in case.

I asked a petitioner who already had gotten K-1 visa the same question a few months ago, and he said it is okay.
