K-1 Fees Fees Fees

Ok I am new to VJ, and I have been reading post after post. I have read the K-1 guides and checklists. I have also read the Dominican Republic Portal. However, I am still confused about the fees. I have broken it down to the following based on my situation (K-1 Visa)

1. I-129F-$340

2. $350 Medical and Vaccines (vaccines optional)

3. IV packet-$240? ( i am guessing this is the packet that contains DS-230, DS-156, DS-157)

4. Visa Application $160 + $15 (i seen this somewhere,but not sure if this is #3?)

5. Consulate $80

6. Domex Courier $12.50

7. Immigrant fee (POE) $165

8. Marriage License fees $72 (in my area)

9. I-485 + I-765 $1010 (includes biometrics, I don't intend to file for AP, because fiance wants to stay in US)

Can anyone tell me if I am missing anything? I know I will have more fees when we file for permanent residency, but for now these are the fees I can expect? By the way, it would be really helpful if all these fees were posted somewhere all together by type of visa. I realize that the fees may change, but I had to jump around in different posts and read the consualte interview situations to find out about some of these fees. Another thing that would be helpful is if the checklists were updated to show the fees that are associated with each step.

Also, I am on the Dominican Republic portal, and I can't find any button to post a topic there. I can comment on a topic already posted, but I am not sure how to post one on the main page.

3) 240 is for visa.

4) and 7) seems to be one thing and it does not apply to K-1.

9) AOS/ EAD/ AP is 1070 . No AP the fee is still 1070.

If you want to apply N-400 for US citizenship then 680 more.

Good job breaking down the fees; fortunately, a few of these you won't need for the K-1 Visa.

1. I-129F-$340 . CORRECT

2. $350 Medical and Vaccines (vaccines optional) Good estimate (it changes bases on age of person and season of the year; it may be a little less)

3. IV packet-$240? ( i am guessing this is the packet that contains DS-230, DS-156, DS-157) DON'T PAY

4. Visa Application $160 + $15 (i seen this somewhere,but not sure if this is #3?) CORRECT

5. Consulate $80 CORRECT

6. Domex Courier $12.50 Correct (it could be a little less; depending on what part of the Dominican your finace lives)

7. Immigrant fee (POE) $165 DON'T PAY

8. Marriage License fees $72 (in my area)

9. I-485 + I-765 $1010 (includes biometrics, I don't intend to file for AP, because fiance wants to stay in US) CORRECT (but this is later on after you marry within 90 days of arriving in the US; most people apply immediatley after marriage; however there really is no timeline. The sooner the better, if he intend to work or attend school legally.)

Can anyone tell me if I am missing anything? I know I will have more fees when we file for permanent residency, but for now these are the fees I can expect? This is posted in the link below: however, the fees have changed since last year. I double-check to make sure everything's been updated.

ok so #4 is paying for all docs in #3

when you get to the consulate, will they tell you where to pay the $80? is this for the fingerprints?

how come we don't have to pay the immigrant fee at POE? this was put in force February 2013, i thought it said all immigrants paid this fee.

Once at POE the I-94 is electronic now, so there will not be any paperwork handed to him right?

Mr. Tree, I do want to apologize to you, because after posting this, I came across your link and read all the way down. LOL, sorry.

FEES:

I-129f: $340

Medical exam & vaccinations: $180us & $110us = $290 (price is higher during flu season)

K1 Visa Fees: $240 + Processing fee of $15us. In the Dominican Rep it's paid at 2 different places.

Pay $160us + 15us (processing fee) at Banco Popular (bank).

Then pay remaning balance of $80us at the U.S. Consulate on the day of your Interview.

Total= $255

Domex (visa delivery service): $9.50-$16us (varies on where you live) or you can pick it up from the Consulate.

Note: None of these fees include cost of travel, hotel, etc. This is a costly process.

3) 240 is for visa.

4) and 7) seems to be one thing and it does not apply to K-1.

9) AOS/ EAD/ AP is 1070 . No AP the fee is still 1070.

If you want to apply N-400 for US citizenship then 680 more.

You forgot "Removal of Conditions" fee: $590 which comes before US. citizenship.

Yup.

Yes, they will call you by ticket number. Yes, it's for fingerprints.

how come we don't have to pay the immigrant fee at POE? this was put in force February 2013, i thought it said all immigrants paid this fee.

This is only for MARRIAGE VISAS, the K1 is a FIANCE VISA.

Once at POE the I-94 is electronic now, so there will not be any paperwork handed to him right?

I heard, but I cannot clarify as of yet. I will look this up for you. I still believe that the I-94 is still printed and stapled to your passport.

Mr Tree

If we pay the Visa Application fee of $165 + 15 at Banco Popular prior to the interview, then does the Embassy just send out Packet #4 for free? I was thinking you had to pay the fees to get the packet #4?

You can pay the Banco Popular fee anytime after you receive the date for your Interview. Make sure you make 2 separate payments, so you get 2 receipts ($165 + $15)

Packet 4 is sent out after your case arrives at the Consulate. They will schedule you an interview date (and notify the NVC) and send your packet to your fiance's residence.

By the way the name is MrTee, not Tree. oops8rh.gif

This is a breakdown of the fees I was told about from the paperwork service I use:

I-129F: $340.00

Medical Fees (beneficiary); $200.00-$400.00

Visa Fees: $240.00

Marriage license: (varies on state) + cost of wedding officiate, check your state regulations

AoS Fees: $985.00 + $85.00 (biometrics)

Remove Conditions: $505.00 + $85.00 (biometrics), if the AoS is applied for prior to being married for 2 years.

Note: You don't have to apply for the AoS within any timeframe -- but your foreign spouse will not be able to work until you do, so it's recommended you apply asap.

As a thought, why not also apply for AP while applying for AOS? There's no extra fee involved when applying at the same time as AOS, and you never know what might happen that might require travel abroad...

yes I thought about that, and I asked my fiance, and he said he does not want to return to the Dominican unless I am with him. I think I will just apply for it anyways.
