We are still waiting on the hard copy of the RFE ( requested 6/21)

It seems we are a little different than most.

The fiancee has 2 teenage daughters - they will be moving with her to Florida, one has already lived here for 4 months under a tourist visa - she is almost a gringa now. But they are back in Colombia waiting out the visa process.

Are there any additional complications when bringing kids in? Other than the additional expenses amd paperwork.

Does she have sole custody or a notarized letter from their biological father stating is okay for them to move to the USA?

There are additional expenses because each K-2 will have its own DS forms to fill out and each will have to pay the $240 visa application fee. Each will also need to have their own medical and if Colombia gives vaccination at the medical, they may be extra and not included in the price of the medical.

The FAQ here has a little bit of information about K-2s that could be helpful to you> http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-application.html

Getting the appropriate immigration permission from the father is important. There doesn't seem to be anything different with a K-1 Fiancee Visa and two K-2 Child Derivative Visas. Be sure that the children have all of their appropriate documents. You are correct in saying that there will certainly more paperwork and expenses with three visas. Refer to the Department of State's Nonimmigrant K-1 Visa FAQs for more information:

Good luck on your visas journey.

As long as the father permits it, you will not have any problems. If you look at our timeline, we just completed the entire process (K-1, K-2, finally green card!) for my wife and two step-daughters from Honduras. Just follow all the paperwork and it should flow right through.

One thing we learned - if your daughters are older than 16, they need the police background search for the K1/K-2 process. You can email me if you have any specific questions and I am happy to share our experiences here. My step-daughters are now 18 and 17 - they were 15 and 14 when we started this process!
