Unless your case was transferred to TSC, you should have a case number at NVC in about 7-10 days or so.

TSC hasn't sent anything over to the NVC yet and there have been 0 case numbers assigned in the past 3 weeks of approvals from there.

Nobody knows what TSC is doing. USCIS doesn't say anything, and the new NVC line is wait 8 weeks.

OMG that's horrible!

I'm already waiting for a my NOA2... hopeless :(

We received our NOA2 on May 29th and still waiting for case number. I was also told eight weeks - it doesn't surprise me actually. Our I-130 was probably sent by NBC to the local office (in this case Santa Ana) so the file likely has to go from the local office to a central USCIS office, and from their to NVC (just guessing). I call every week JIC but I'm expecting it to take eight weeks if not longer.

I don't feel like calling every day (life must go on and why get worked up about something I cannot control).

Anyways, our situation is likely different than yours but that said do not expect anything to go quickly.

the great difference is that local offices do not have a consistant way of forwarding to nvc.. some cases go in a week some in as much as 90 days.

I will bet u a million bucks, that office is sitting on it or it got tagged nrc only to be discovered after 75 days and routed to nvc

infopass for you will yield all of your answers.. happened to me.. check on darnell.. plenty of others out there too

Every time I have tried to call NVC today, the phone line has been busy. sad.png I guess I'll try my luck later tonight.

I called the nvc today, out of curiosity. I was told to wait 8 weeks for fiancé visas to reach the nvc and then wait 15-20 days for the petition to reach the consulate. So, that's a total of two and a half months more of waiting. ClockWatch2.gif

I called again today. The representative I talked to said that the 8 weeks is a recently implemented thing. He said USCIS processing centers have changed the way they process cases to send to NVC. He didn't go into any detail and I don't know if he was just giving me a bunch of bull because he doesn't know. :( But it is pretty horrible that an already long wait is being extended. I hope they are just saying 8 weeks as a worst case scenario. I hope 8 weeks isn't the new "normal." I hate not knowing what is going on.

Today I talked to tier 2 at USCIS who said that my approved petition is still at VSC waiting to be packaged and shipped to NVC. According to her, they ship cases out individually, not in batches. So I don't know what mine is doing just sitting there. She said I could call back in two weeks and put in a service request if it still had not been shipped. Also, she did not seem to know anything about this new "up to eight weeks" thing NVC has been quoting recently. I find that strange because the NVC says that it is USCIS who has implemented the new process where it is taking longer. The officer I spoke to said 8 weeks sounds like a long time and that it is usually quicker than that. *sigh* I don't know who to listen to.

@stevie b...thanks for the advice. Since I have nothing better to do I've spent most of the last two hours on various holds. Waiting for a tier 2 CSR at USCIS now. Waiting I can handle, what worries me is the file is lost or sent to the NRC. The thought of having to refile another I-130 is motivating me to stay on hold as long as it takes. I expect things to be slow, it's not knowing where the file is located that is scary.

Once I can confirm our file was sent to our local office (Santa Ana) I will make an infopass appointment. I do have a question about that - there is a page that asks you to select from four radio buttons, none of which apply to us. I believe the last button asks if has been 45 days since you filed a service request, and to bring a printed copy in for the appointment. I haven't filed a service request until today. Any advice on how to get past this to schedule the appointment?

For what it's worth I filed an electronic form with the DHS ombudsman.

Appreciate everyone's help.

Jim

I live in El Paso I feel like taking a weekend drive out and knocking on their door at tsc Monday morning with a ups envelope with paid shipping label. Just say here. I even paid for it.....

NVC people I have spoke with have been rather unforgiving and with no explanation as to what has changed. One told me its always been 8 weeks sir and I said ok I'll call back tomorrow lol

I hope we tie up their phone lines so much NVC asks TSC for the paperwork faster. Not sure it would happen as their Is no profit in doing it faster. Maybe bonuses for meeting goal or something wouldn't that be something !

Most of the reps I talked to at NVC have been less than helpful and some have been downright rude. I don't know what end to focus my energy on. NVC or USCIS. It seems that right now the back-up is on the USCIS end. At least in my case, my approved petition is just sitting at Vermont Service Center. I don't know why they don't just put it in the mail already. How hard can it really be?

I received my NOA2 hard copy in the mail yesterday, so I decided to call NVC just to check if they had received my case yet. Not surprisingly, the woman I spoke to said that it was not in their system yet and that they are currently asking 8 weeks to give a case number. Has anyone applying for a K-1 gone through the NVC recently and found this processing time to be accurate? I was under the impression that for K-1 applicants, they moved them through within a matter of days or at most just a few weeks. I hope they are just saying 8 weeks to discourage people from calling and asking. The wait is discouraging. :(

I just called them today to check if NVC had received our approved petition. I got NOA2 on June 16th, 2014 from TSC. The lady told me it would take 4-5 weeks and I told her I will call everyday to check. She said that is fine to keep checking on it and doesnt hurt (already knew that)
