FYI, When they did the government shutdown, it did not affect people who are applying for a VISA, Because WE pay for this service...That doesnt affect Spousel Visas, THE diversity visa however, overloaded all the centers, which resulted in transferring of cases. http://shusterman.com/government-shut-down.html

My waiver is in on March 17th and I am still waiting for the recieving reciept...My 2 year wedding anniversary is in June as well. I feel Your pain, rylforever... Most Definately...Just keep hoping this will only take 4 months and 4-6 weeks for the visa to get to my husband, he is located in a lil town on the Border of Mexico..9 hours from the embassy.

thank you. Hopefully, yours will go by fast. On the immigrate2us page, there are still people that filed waivers in march of 2013 and a couple from 2012 also and at the same time people are getting approved from October 2013 all ready. so it could be anytime really, hopefully quickly though. good luck.

I hope sooo, we have been separated for 2 years in July, I have made 4 trips to guatemala. And this has killed my bank account... I am hoping for a response in August and Visa In september. At the latest, That is if they dont accept the expedite. There is such a slim chance for the Expitite to be accepted. I am just praying for him to be home in August or September. Shoot for the long shot, that away im not disappointed...Thank you for your responses.

I hope by the time I file our waiver that they will be somewhat caught up and the processing time goes back to 4-6 months. The current processign times really depress me. It took 11 months and 6 days just to get approved at the TSC. Right now I am praying my K3 makes it to the embassy because the NVC is another 3 month wait. We know we need the waiver so I hope they just let us go with the K3 to save time. We don't care about the adjustment fee. We just care about the time we already lost. I hope you all get approved . This waiting game really sucks !

Hey thank you for you response, how long did your i-601 take??? I mean My husband is still in Guatemala and I am back in the states, it looks like it went through quickly per your timeline, My husbands i-130 was approved in July I think, and It took them till december to get his interview, then we had to go back because the sponsorship papers were not right, so they finnallly accepted him in February, but give us the paper that said to file the I-601. THe lawyer got that sent out on the 17th of March, This month.

I guess what I am wondering is how much more time do you think i am looking at???? Well in comparison to yours, I know you cant gurantee nothing with this process... Thank you soo much,

Hi everyone! My husband and I returned from Guatemala just a week ago. We did the I-160 waiver. If anyone has any questions about it, let me know!! It was quick and painless for us.

I sent you a message, but just for the public's use and info, it took us 4 months to get our waiver approved. However, my husband was in the states. I wouldn't recommend leaving at all. The amendment was done in March 2013 precisely so that families wouldn't have to be apart during the waiver process. The best situation is that, if the person applying for the waiver is a man, to show that he is the sole or the greater bread winner in the family. If a woman, it's better to have had a child in the US (primary child care giver) and be the emotional support for the us citizen husband. If no children, then to demonstrate how the woman contributes to the stability of the family, as well as contributes economically to the household, if possible. In other words, either one has to demonstrate WHY they should stay and WHO benefits from their staying here.
