I am going to file k1 but I am stuck on the letter of intent. Does my fiance letter have to be in his native language or can it be in English

English. I'm not sure if they even allow foreign languages because it will be reviewed at the USCIS as part of your petition.

It can be in English. My fiancé isn't very fluent in English so I pretty much copy and pasted the template/example that they have here and we both used the same. I just told him to sign it and he did. star_smile.gif

Good luck!

In English. Make sure it has the sentence" I plan on marrying ___________ within 90 days of arriving in the USA as per K1 guidelines"

Do your fiance also put his address in English or in his native language? My fiance is Costa Rican and I'm just worried about if papers are sent to him, since no one speaks english in his town.

Are you speaking of the letter intent address, or any address at all listed on any of the forms? No address is even required on the letter of intent. List the address as it is for the forms. Addresses do not need translating. Notifications for the I-129F petition are mailed to the USC petitioner, since they are the one that files the I-129F. Once the I-129F petition is approved, then the consulate will contact the beneficiary is some way. According to the San Jose consulate info page here on VJ, they call them regarding their case > http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Costa%20Rica&cty=San%20Jose

The letter of intent must be in English. Anything sent to the USCIS must be in English or have an accompanying English translation if the document is in another language.
