I-130 - Alien Registration Number?

Hey everyone,

Just curious. There is a spot on the I130 application that asks for an alien registration number. What is this number?

For an American Citizen, what is their A#?

Also, for resident alien on an L1 what would be there A#?

Can these fields just be left blank?

Also, if my spouse plans on changing her name, but hasnt already, what name should she put on the application? Her current name, or my lastname?

Thanks!

American Citizens don't have A-numbers (because they're not aliens!).

I don't believe as an L-1 holder you would have an A-number either.

You can just write "None" or "N/A" where it asks for the A-number. This is what I did.

Perfect, how about the name change? I guess the current name should be put, even if it will be changing in the future?

Is the spouse who is considering changing their name the USC or the Green Card applicant?

The spouse is the USC.

Another silly question but for field #22.

"Your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at USCIS office in:"

For this field, should I put the USCIS office of where I resided i.e. w. palm beach or where I am sending it to i.e.

Thanks again!

The spouse is the USC.

My wife is a USC and she is changing her name after I get my green card. It just seemed easier that way.

Palm Beach.

dr_lha,

Some American citizens do have A numbers. The ones who are naturalized citizens (because the were aliens before becoming citizens).

dr_lha,

Nothing pedantic about it - there are a lot of them. Let's no go giving them the idea that their alien history with the USCIS vanishes when they become citizens - it doesn't. They need to use it when the begin the immigration process for someone else.
