I have been reading the forums, and went to the Dominican Republic Embassy website. My question is if my fiance can provide proof (from his dr) of all his vaccinations, and he goes to his normal dr to make sure he gets all remaining vaccinations, does he still need to pay for the vaccines at the medical appointment?

I mean this process is expensive as it is. If he can get all his vaccines done cheaper at his regular doctor, wouldn't this make more sense? $380 for medical and vaccines is quite alot of money.

It's actually much cheaper than it is here. But if it is the same as Ireland the cost of medical is the same regardless of whether you need vaccinations or not. I was going to get them with my doctor until I realised getting them during the medical doesn't affect the cost of the medical, so the vaccinations are technically 'free' during the medical whereas they might cost quite a bit from your own doctor.

According to the Dom. Rep. Ebassy site, the vaccines are additional.

No not true. Vaccines are not obligated to have for k-1 it's your decision. Just know he will need them here during AOS. People just do it in DR because they are already there and its cheaper than it would be here in the US. I know plenty of people here on VJ that have done their medical with out the vaccines. Dee and Jay is one of those memebers. Just ask.

If a person have had all their vaccines, whether as a child or adult U

take that card or proof when U go to Embassy doctor, the only other

vaccine may be required is the flu shot, and vaccines cost is separate

from the medical...if shots can be obtained at a clinic or elsewhere

cheaper prior to medical appt. go for it

From the Embassy's website:

The Immigration and Nationality Act requires that all immigrant visa applicants and certain nonimmigrant visa applicants, regardless of age, undergo a medical examination before receiving a visa.

The doctors selected by the Consular Section are the only doctors authorized to conduct medical examinations for visa applicants. The doctors' office is called Consultorios de Visa and is located in Santo Domingo, on Avenida Independencia 254, corner with Danae street.

You're right.

As per the Embassy's website:

placeholder.png If you are applying for a K or V visa, vaccines are optional. However, it is often more convenient if you are vaccinated while still in the Dominican Republic.
