They also do ask for letter from the employer, does your mom work???? that would have worked wonders.I think they also considered the fact the whole family was in the US including the husband and she wasn't more likely to go back to her country. Its insane but that's how they do it. sorry though- you would think for older people it would be more easier.....

these are usually the questions

1.what are u going to do

2. what do u do for a living

3. how much do u earn

4. do u have travel experience, if yes where?

5. how long do u intend to stay in the usa

6. who's paying for your trip

7. are u married? u have kids?

a lot of people focus so much on proving they need to go to the usa, instead of proving they need to return.

the only time your going is more important than proving to return is when u are invited by an organization under the US government (they need u) or one closely related.

a friend was invited by the office of the president(US) for an award, there's no way he cud be denied.

i suggest before trying again, your mom acquire travel experience to a good country, she can transit an another country when returning to make it look better, and at the interview the focus should be on her mom not US.

btw, ive been denied tourist visa twice.

A. A.

Pretty much what he said. I was denied twice too and from the 3 times I went in for an interview, those are the most common questions I been asked. It also helped that I had several stamps on my passport so I had proof that I am a tourist.

Your mom can always apply again. Just tell her to reiterate why a) she needs to go back to her home country and b) that she WILL go back to her home country. When asked, it might help to tell the CO that her husband doesn't have a valid US tourist visa anymore and that he and their son will be staying behind so she definitely needs to go back.

I think the PO is confused that how come her father got the visa before when her situation was pretty much the same as now she's trying to get her mother here?

I am not sure if her father got the visa before she came to the state or after she came to the state. By any means, I think re-apply and focus on giving more documents that show her will be returning home. Doesn't hurt to try just the money part.
