The 3300 deaths by drowning sound high to me too. I'm not going to howl about banning pools though (even though the number of pools is only 3% of the number of guns)

What about rivers, oceans, even bath tubs? We get one or two drownings every weekend on the Russian River and along the Sonoma coast. Yes, you can drown in knee deep water, if you can't swim, and are too stupid to stand up. Or, if you ignore the signs, "Sleeper waves - long periods between waves - do not walk beyond this point."

Nope drowning in swimming pools is second leading cause of death of kids under 14. Follows automobile accidents. It is the leading cause of death among children 1-4, follows congenital birth defects.

90% of the children under age 4 drown in home swimming pools. If you care about saving children ban the autos the get killed in and the pools they drown in then work your way down cause of death until you eliminate them all.
