Curious Question About Medical Examination

Oh the lovely things I think of before going to bed..

Just curious we have our LND number from NVC and confirmed our info is on its way to London(woohoo). Can my fiance book a medical examination with our LND number and also having his police report too? If yes what else would he need to take with him for the medical?

I may be wrong but, I think there is something about the date that will be on the completed medical exam.... that the date is used to count down how much time the K1 visa is good for. (6 months?) Hopefully someone will get on here and post something to explain it better. For that reason, as anxious as we are, we are getting his done closer to the interview date which will give us more time to fly him over here and make all the necessary arrangements to marry and do any other stuff required of us to continue the journey to the next steps. Any-hoo... that's just how we are doing it based on our particular circumstances. Everyones' is different. Just putting some info out there in case its useful. But it should be confirmed by more experienced members.

The K1 will be valid for 6 months from the date of the medical. That means you have 6 months from the medical to use it to enter the USA.

One you enter the USA, the K1 is used up and that 6 month window is no longer important because it's done. You then have 90 days from the USA entry date to get married and file your AoS.

The only other thing he should take with him is a vaccination record from his GP (and if he's missing any jabs, he should probably get them before the medical, since the GP will probably do them for free).

Lost at sea pretty much hit the nail right on the head. You need the LND number, your police certificate and a passport style (either UK or US) photo to attend the medical. You can schedule it once you have the number. In my case, she got her police certificate the day after we got our LND number, so she called and made an appointment for her medical. There was no problem getting it scheduled. As Lost at sea said, if you can get your shot records from your GP, you can save yourself some money by proving you don't need the shots before you eventually adjust status. If it's shown at your medical then it will be recorded for you and you shouldn't have to prove that later when you adjust status. Although it is best to have vaccinations taken care of ahead of time as it's much cheaper to have them done by your GP there, as a K-1 applicant, you don't NEED to prove the vaccinations until you adjust status, so do it if you can, but don't get overly stressed about it.

BTW, I noticed NVC received your case 3 days after mine, so I'd guess yours should go into transit soon if it's not already on it's way to London. Mine took exactly one week from the date it went into transit to the date it arrived in London. Sounds like our timelines are fairly close. Best of luck to you.
