hi guys i just married my fiancee last march and i have been here for about 5 months. my visa was approved on nov 17 2012, i didnt travel with my son and i need to bring him here before nov 17..what does he need to bring to the interview?? my father will take him here..i admit i shouldve brought him here with me but he was finishing school on march. sad.png he just turned 10 yrs old

i sent an email to uscis and they said to pay for the interview fee, they didnt state how much, is it the same fee that i paid in BPI around 10k plus pesos?

what else does he need to bring to the interview? he is going to the interview to have his passport stamped, do u think they will stamp it then and there and give it to him or would they have to ship it to our home??

thank you very much in advance, we are hoping he can leave before august 11 because my father his immigrant visa is going to expire on that time..

Follow the link in my signature below. The visa fee is the same as for you, $240, medical is less, CFO seminar isn't required but the sticker is, read the CFO webpage for details. A link to the embassy instructions letter is in the link, its for both the K-1 and K-2 and lists everything that the embassy required.

Does your father have a power of attorney for your son? So there are no questions during the process.

K2 Visa Requirements

If you are getting married to a woman with a child or children she can take the children back to the US with her after they have filed for a K2 visa for them. The basic requirements for the K2 visa are as follows.

The requirements for the K2 visa are as follows:

  1. The child must be younger than 21;
  2. The child must be unmarried;
  3. The child must want to move to the US.
  4. The child must pass a medical exam.

The visa is valid for 90 days on the K1 Visa. If you do not marry your fiancee within the 90 day period the K2 Visa holder would have to leave the country with the K1 Visa holder. The documents needed for the K2 Visa are as follows:

  • Valid passport if over 16 years of age;
  • Nonimmigrant Visa Application (Form DS-156);
  • Official birth certificate;
  • Complete medical report;
  • Permission from the other parent.

If the child is under 14 then the US Embassy does not need the child to go with to the K1 Visa interview or the K3 Visa interview at the US Embassy. Note that the time limit is one year in which to apply for the K2 visa once the K1 Visa as bee issued. The benefits of the K2 Visa is that the child can stay in the US as well as study in the US. The child can also apply for a work permit legally.

the child needs a new I-134 set from your petitioner.

the K-2 paperwork is the same as yours, actually - so whatever YOU filled out for YOU, handed over on interview day?

same same on the child. don't forget the medical exam, aye?

fee is the same as yours...

Usually, can jumpstart the K-2 process by paying the fee and scheduling the interview with ustraveldocs.com website.

Is interesting you talked with USCIS office, as they never handle VISA processing.

did YOU do a DS-160 ? if YOU did, then yes, the CHILD does a DS-160 as well.

FWIW, that doesn't sound right, at all. are you studying stuff over at ustraveldocs.com for the RoP ?

There is not a DS-160 for K-1

Red ribbon certificate is not needed for the embassy, the embassy will want the NSO birth certificate.

Another I-134 with tax return, W-2 will be needed.

Follow the link to the embassy instructions letter, do everything that's listed there, if it doesn't apply to the K-2 it will state so in the instructions letter, otherwise its required.

I would not use that link for what to do for the K-2, not very good information, some is true, some is very lacking, some is totally wrong.

Follow the embassy instructions letter, its not third party information or mis-information its the facts.

From paying the fee at BPI to scheduling the interview, doing the medical and so on... its pretty much all the same.

Yes the process is the same as when you did your visa application, there are a few exceptions, no DS-156K, don't need the NBI. Read the instructions letter and take your time, all will be fine.

Since the minor child will travel to the US accompanied by another person that is not his parent, you need to acquire a DSWD travel clearance. This is also a requirement at CFO.
