I think it is an excellent idea. The UK has different coloured notes and they are all different sizes. £5 is the smallest, going up to the £50 which is the largest. Blind or visually handicapped people can easily tell our notes.

Our coins vary greatly in size, texture and weight.

I'm going to miss the UK money. USA money is, IMO, a little boring. All the same green (apart from slight variations), same sizes...and I REALLY find it hard to tell what is what.

D used to say when he visited that our coins here looked flimsy and fake...like play money for kids. I never understood that til I moved there and then moved back....wasn't used to seeing US coins & for a few months it fascinated me how fake they looked.

Yeah, you could have an eye out with one of the UK coins!

I guess it's just that I have grown up with the US currency but I don't understand the problem with knowing the denominations? I mean, the number is on the bill (5 for $5.00, 10 for $10.00, etc).

As for having different sizes or colors of bills, don't you then have to still know which one is which and if you don't have the others to compare it with then how is that helpful? The last thing I want is something else to remember.

Anyway, when I was a kid there was a candy shop that was run by the sweetest old gentleman that was totally blind. He could always tell the denomination he was given so he could give the correct change...he said he could tell any type of bill. It always amazed me.
