He is on my medical and my will was amended stating a percentage to go to him should he pre decrease me. My son still is the executor and he will never be on the real estate nor my primary banking accounts. You do what makes sense for that stage of your life.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My husband is the USC, we just sent our I130 last month. We only have one joint bank account (new, we each have our own older U.S. bank accounts on the side) and I am added as a non-driver to his policy. The insurance company requested this after they found out he got married.

He tried to add me to something work related (I'd say life insurance through work but I am not 100% sure) and they would not do it without a SSN.

I would pick a fight with the health/benefits plan. Marriage is a "qualifying event" and if you do not get her enrolled within the limited number of days from the "qualifying event" you will have to wait until next years enrollment. I had to pick a major fight and they finally added her pending a SS number.

Can you explain this please?

I don't think it makes sense that he adds me to his health insurance since I am not there (it is not free), but I would like to understand more about qualifying events and waiting until next years enrollment.

Most company insurances have an annual enrolment where all changes are made. However they allow mid year changes for a qualifying event usually birth, death, marriage, divorce, age out of child , employment change ( adding / losing benefits) of spouse.

My insurance also includes the move of the foreign spouse to the states as a "life-changing" event. They just require his "A" number/visa number. Had I added him right after we were married it would have added $200 per check and increased the annual deductable to $10,000. I was not ready for that. I'll wait until he's here then add him hoping he'll find some kind of work to offset that $200 increase every 2 weeks. They did let me add him as beneficiary as early as when we had gotten engaged.
