Do you look like your mother ( I assume he didn't get along with her)?

I look like my mother's father. I've got an old photo of him, and when I was of the same age, people used to think it was one of those old time photos I had take of me.

My father was pretty abusive to his kids and wife. This wasn't an isolated incident, it's just the one that got me totally fed up with the situation. In reality, it wasn't that hard on me by that point, as most of the time I was only home to sleep. When that happened, I said to myself why bother coming home at all. I can afford one of the cheap apartments next to where I worked. Turns out I would have been well ahead of the game had I not returned, as financial aid for college considered his income, so I got none until I'd been living on my for two years to establish independent status. I would have had that established had I not returned home.

I'm probably the one that turned out the least damaged of my siblings. It did leave me with my own demons to work through in life. I'm always hoping to learn to be a better person, and not let past hurts get carried forward with me.

I get the feeling that I should spend as little time as possible in the upper forums lately. Had someone tell me I'm a know it all. It was funny because that was right after I wrote on another post, learn something new! thanks! So now I'm like this:

Gonna take the kiddo to see a 3D butterfly adventure movie and the wildlife experience place just down the road... then we'll come back and go to the pool.

After leaving home when I was 15, I was already working and basically supporting myself with but rent when I did, he promised that if I'd move home, he'd put me through college. When college came he never contributed one cent to my education. Even when I'd hit hard times and asked to borrow some money, he never helped with a cent. Guy would ask for my help all the time to, help do this, fix that, whatever, he was constantly hitting me up for help. Then when I would need some help, not one bit would come. Once I was out of work, the company I was working for went out of business, I asked to borrow a hundred bucks until I found a new job, I was still a student, and he refused. Instead he gave me a box of freezer burned polish sausages so I would have something to eat. Then starting bragging about his upcoming vacation to Hawaii with wife number 3.

What really burned my butt, was when his step son with his third wife had to go to college. My father paid everything for a private out of state college, so the step son wouldn't have to be distracted from his studies by working. He bragged about how much he was spending to. Can you even imagine how I felt?

I left home because he slammed my head through a wall, threw me down the steps into the basement, then ran down after me and was kicking me in the face.

Reminds me of the meme, I want to be more social but I hate people

Sometimes I just walk away from the upper forums, and from a few facebook forums I'm a member of. The amount of people who just want to give advice, even when they know nothing about the issue is incredible. It gets even worse when you're blasted for giving decent advice. I got blasted not long ago for telling someone they needed a CR-1, they were married, they were talking applying for K-3 because a friend told them to. Then someone else said do a K-1, its faster. The people were married already!
