EI Report card question

I received the time cards and filled them out but. . .

How do you fill out question 4 on the back of the report cards?

"Were you ready, willing and capable of working each day? If "no" give date(s) and reason(s) below. Complete E on side 2 if applicable."

I'm ready, willing and capable, but didn't get the EAD stamp, so I should put "yes"?

Also, do we just enclose these cards into my own envelope and send them back to the Belleville address that they were sent from? Or do we send them somewhere else? Do I just send back the little time sheets, or should I send something else with them - like the white 1/2 page with my address "cover page" like sheet?

Been awhile since I collected EI from the USA. I sent them back in the envelope provided, it had the address already on it, just had to put on a stamp!! All I ever sent back was the cards. I was cr-1 so able to work authorization rightr from the start, so cant help with the EAD thingy.

But, I wonder if me being on a K1 makes a difference? Could a K3 visa have the potential to get an EAD stamp at the border just like the K1? I have not applied for my EAD with my AOS because I am not married yet so therefore I'm not really waiting for the EAD approval. I'll see if I can phone the office tomorrow and get an answer from them.

Since I was a K1 and still collecting EI for a few more weeks, I'll chime in.

I put 'yes' for #4 and always have, there haven't been any problems.

I send it to:

I send it back by Global Priority Mail, it costs $4.25 US from where I'm at. That way I can track it and it usually arrives there quicker, regular mail for me would take about 10 days.

The office will take 2 days to call you back.

They should've called you by now, or they will when they make a decision on your claim (I'm not sure when you filed). They will ask if you've applied for an EAD/GC.

Me too.. just sent it back with the regular stamp... never had a problem.

One is work authorized with a K1, theat's why one can get a SSN card with a K1, because work authorization is incident to K1 status. However, an employer cannot hire you without evidence of that Employment Authorization through an EAD Card.

EI accepts the fact that K1 is Employment Authorized incident to status in terms of paying you EI.. but only for the 90 days. They will stop your payments for the period between the 90 days and the day you send them evidence of your renewed Employment Authorization by faxing them a copy of your EAD.

So let me see if i get this straight. When I leave work (sometime in Jan/Feb), i make sure that relocating for marriage is on the ROE, then I apply for EI right away, and from the date of issue of the visa and for the next 90 days i am EI eligible (less the 2 week waiting period). Then I need to supply proof that I have my EAD and then it will continue until my weeks are up or until I find work in the US? This sounds too easy.. I'm still not wrapping my mind around why the CDN gov. will give citizens who choose to leave the country EI Benefits. But heck! I paid in (and have never ever claimed before).

Yes, many Cdns are suprised that they can claim EI in the USA if they qualify (have enough hrs, etc) I was CR-1 so not much assistance to the k1 and k3'ers, no clue why they differ in the EAD department

Yes, you can collect EI on a K3 only difference is that you don't get it until you EAD comes in. You apply for benefits then it is put on hold till you provide the EAD card. Go to the top of the Canadian thread, Look in clearing thread and it's all there. Good luck.
