What prompted the stokes, so we can learn from your experience. Was it because you were late? Did you do the regular interview as a couple first? Was it immediately after the regular interview or was it scheduled for another day? Tell us more please =)

No we were not interviewed as a couple first. He called me first and asked about 50 questions then my wife but only few questions to her. It was immediately our first interview just like yours. Questions about the house (all details), cable, how we met, parents, tattos, my work, where grocery etc.

Hey olsan3 I have a question for you if you don't mind. I have received an RFE for my birth certificate. I submitted an affidavit from my father in my application as a proof of birth. However, the RFE shows that the affidavit I submitted was "insufficient" Now, I will re-submit an attestation of birth from National Population Commission along with two affidavit from my parents as the secondary evidence. Do you think that this will satisfy the USCIS request?

Wow, that's odd. Maybe stokes interviews are conducted at random. From what I read here, most of the couples that get stokes interviews have inconsistencies during a regular interview so they separate them and ask individually. Where the questions too intrusive? Did you feel harassed at all?

Anyway, congratulations! You're done waiting at least!

Its possible it could be random. No questions were not intrusive at all, all general questions and he did not harass us at all.

Thanks.

The EAD has a 1 year expiry. It is supposed to facilitate your early acclimation into your new life in the US while all of the other paperwork is on process. The advantage of getting EAD ahead or even close to your I-485 interview is that it allows you to apply for an SSN and DMV card as soon as you have it on hand. SSN number is not automatically filled with EAD so you have to apply for it separately, the card and no. is mailed within 7 days and as soon as you are issued this number you can apply for a driving license and apply for jobs. I don't think they take your EAD as soon as you are issued a GC because it is a temporary card anyway and expires automatically after 1 year from issue.

Thank u so much for the explanation! I already have SSN and drivers license, but it was good to know that they r not taking your EAD card on the interview and that expires in a year :)

I was approved on sep 26th. We had a stokes interview but it went well, I think cuz we were 1 hour late, reached there at 10 instead of 9AM.. Long traffic jam and I had to pee real bad and could not hold it and took an exit that added 20 more minutes.

Congratulations!!!

Had my interview today. Went very well. Only a few questions. We were asked how we met and where we met, and if we still live together at the same address listed. She looked through our photo album, as well took our bank statements for evidence.

The interview itself took about 15 minutes. I was told I had been approved and that I should be getting my GC soon in the mail.

Any idea on how long it says before they mail out the GC or when I should look forward to receiving it?

Had my interview today in Boise Idaho! Went quick and easy! We went there 30 min prior the interview, but we were not worried at all, so the time flew fast while me and my husband were talking and kissing in the waiting room :) The lady was super nice and friendly and it sounded like she was already convinced that we r a real couple even before we started! She made us swear, copied our ID's, and then just asked us questions from g-325a like our full name, date and place of birth, address, name of our parents, and all "no" questions from I-485. Then she said "tell me your story, how did u guys meet and where" and then she asked "do u have new evidences of your relationship that I don't have already on your record"- we gave her our common phone bill, the last statement from our joint bank account, my husband's contract with the NAVY(because my name is mentioned there as his spouse) and his life insurance that I am his beneficiary. Then she ask for my passport in order to remove my I-94 from there, said we r approved and to expect my temporary green card in 7-10 days in mail! Then gave me explanation letter how to remove the conditions from my green card in order to get my permanent one in the period year and 9 months and 2 years, because we have been married for less than 2 years. And that was it! Done in 15 minutes! We shook hands and left with smile! :)
