J and I have been together for 3 years now but I only have logs for the last year. For some reason, last year this time all our FB conversation history disappeared and then I got a new laptop in November 2012 and have MSN/skype logs since then. J never saves chat logs/history :(

Is one year gonna be enough? We do have FB friendship timeline which shows messages from 3 years ago.

We're not even that far yet. Still haven't gotten our NOA2. I was referring to the items I put in the I129F packet.

I'm absolutely paranoid about getting an RFE, because I'm really good at worrying, and mama always said stick to what you're good at whistling.gif

I didn't send them in for that either. Nothing in the instruction asks for it. I know some consulates want to see more evidence of a real relationship, so including it in your packet helps with that, but I went through USCIS without any logs of any kind. All USCIS needs is evidence that you have met in person. At the consulate is where they get more concerned with the details of having a real relationship.

Having sent them in won't hurt you in any way, but not sending them in won't hurt either, so as far as the chat logs are concerned, you have no worries, no matter how GOOD you are at worrying :)

Also, I can say from experience that RFE's aren't so bad either. They are very specific about what they want when they send them. I got mine, sent it back right away and had my approval 15 days from the date of the RFE.

I know I said don't worry several times, and I know you still will, because we all do, but hopefully the worry will be at least a little less now :)

If you want to export your skype chat log, all of it, on a mac, here is how to do it:

1. Open finder - navigate to your Library (from the top menu bar click on "go" and hold the "option" key to show the library)

2. Click on Application Support and then goto Skype

3. In the Skype folder, select your user name and copy the file called "main.db" to your desktop or somewhere convienient

4. Launch Sqlite Database Browser (if you dont have it google it and download it it comes from Sourceforge and it is free)

5. open the file main.db

6. from the tool menu at the top, File Export Table as CSV and choose the table Messages

7. Name the export file XXXXX.csv (you need to specify the extension cdv)

8. Open it with Mac Numbers or Mac Excel

9. Filter out all the Type column except 61. This will show you every text message there is. Now the tricky part is the timestamp.

10. If you want to convert the Skype timestamp to something that us humans can read, you need to put a formula in. Find a message that you know the date and time of. Then subtract the difference between the next timestamp and the known timestamp, divide by (60*60*24) and then add/subtract that to the date/time you entered for the one known message.

11. If you need a bit more help with converting the timestamp to human readable, send me a PM and I can help you.......

Good Luck!!!!!

sorry that Skype does not make it super simple to export, but it is possible :)

The same can be done for Viber or WhatsApp or KakaoTalk or iPhone messages as well. I can tell you how to do these as well. It is a very similar process, but does involve another piece of software (that is not free but is like $40)

You're absolutely right, though. I just reread the instructions that came with the I129F (as opposed to the instructions on VJ) and there is nothing about proof of ongoing relationship. Oddly enough, I am less worried now! This is a whole new feeling for me! ;)

I will say, though, that I received a PM from a local person whose Londoner fiance just came over on his K-1, and she said they did ask for photos of them together or something like that at the embassy. I made a page-by-page copy of everything that I sent with the I129F so I think we'll print that off on his end so he can bring them with to the interview, just in case.

I did include photos with my I-129F packet. Basically what I did was make a "relationship section" with boarding passes from trips and one pic of us together during each trip, labeled by date and place. Since that packet is sent to London, I expect they shouldn't need to see pics from her, although I am supplying her with a copy of my packet just in case it were to be lost.

Sounds like you have things totally under control. Now for them to get on track and get you your approval :)
