Hello everyone I need help. I have applied for a job on a cruise ship and I have the final interview soon. I have to obtain a C1D Visa and a MCV Visa.

I’m from the UK and the job is a 6 month contract.

I had a police caution for possession of less than 0.5g of cannabis. I received the caution when I was 16 and I am now 21. I was told the caution would not leave my criminal record.

Will I be able to obtain the visas successfully?

I have not told the employer. On the form the employer just sent it says.

  1. Have you ever received a warning, been cautioned, been under a state of arrest, and been arrested or convicted of any offence or crime? YES / NO

If yes please give details listing ALL regardless of time frame or how minor they may

seem (including traffic offences) as this will affect the American Visa process but will

NOT affect your application. Failure to declare will result in any job offer being

withdrawn.

Although it says it won’t affect my application I am pretty sure it will. I’m planning on not declaring it to my employer but I will put it on my visa application. Will the employer find out?

Thanks in advance for any help. Let me know if you need any more information.

i just realised in the question it says :

Have you ever received a warning, been cautioned, been under a state of arrest, and been arrested or convicted of any offence or crime? YES / NO

i think they may have worded this wrong and do want me to declare cautions but this implies only if i was cautioned and arrested or convicted?

It is against to TOS to advise you to lie.

Tell the truth.

Plus under the rehabilitation of offenders act I don’t have to tell them anyway do i?

I know this law does not apply when I’m getting my visa.

Will there be a delay in getting the required visas because of this caution.

Cannabis was a class C drug at the time. I don’t know if that makes any difference.
