You do have a valid green card even if it's not a hard copy.

My husband is just getting tired of carrying his passport around and would rather have the stupid thing already (my adjective, not his).

hi guys,

is it necessary to update profile info @uscis elis??

i did not, just paid the fee according to the guide i got at the embassy.

No not necessary.

I don't carry my green card around. I know i'm supposed to, but unless I'm travelling, I don't. I have state ID and that's a lot cheaper to replace than the green card.

I love it, seriously! Feels like home, looks exactly like Poland :)

The one and only thing i don't like is food. Fastfood, processed microwave food and ... regular groceries like milk, joghurts, cheese, bread. Ewwww!!!

Right now I'm in search of edible food.

World Market in Bloomington is a good place to start. There's also lots of farmer's markets, but those are about to close up for the upcoming winter!

Whole Foods or local co-ops will be the best place to find non or low-processed foods.

Nye's Polonaise Room in NE Minneapolis might be up your alley :content:

Sorry for venturing :ot: LOL

Regarding the ssn, I didn't check the box on the DS260, and went to a local office 3 days after POE. They took my info and the card arrived 3 business days later :D

Our POE was 16 sep...According to ELIS the green card was mailed on oct 8..

Regarding SS, even though we checked the box on ds 260, we still havent received SS..we went to local office in NJ to ask about it..they said that we have to wait for 3 weeks for it to arrive..if it doesnt arrive by oct 5, come visit us again...we went to SS office on oct 6 n only then they applied it for us n said that it would take 7-10 days..so we r still waiting for SS..i think we will get the green card 1st in our case..

I dont no y we have to wait for sooo long for SS..the lady at local SS office that their system wont let them enter into system before 3 weeks after POE..which i thought was strange..

Hope we get it soon??

I have a feeling an INFOPass is in our near future (booooooooo). I'm giving them until the end of October lol

i feel that MSP Immigration is not very modern, to take INK fingerprint for the green card instead of electronic? ... say whaaaaat?

i was about to have a heart attack when my ssc arrived and i saw that my middle name is cut. i went to ssa office and everything in the system was messed up, immigration put my first name and middle name together so the ssa system cut it, they also put my current family name as my maiden name, which is total BS.

ssa officer told me that they do this all the time. ssa asks them not to do this, but they do not care and most of the people that arrives to the US have to visit ssa to fix this.

according to my previous experience i wouldn't be surprise if those forms they were supposed to send to uscis were still on somebody's desk at the MSP.

BTW Immigration doesn't screw up your names. The transfer of information from the CBP and the SSA is what messes up the names. The software isn't very compatible and it's a very common issue.

What do you mean by MSP immigration???

Seconding NLR, the name issue isn't human error, it's a computer problem. CBP and SSA use different software that interpret names in different ways, and it causes problems for a lot of people.
