You can get a better idea of what is happening here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do - use the IOE receipt number from ELIS. This will tell you if card produced/sent to usps/tracking number etc as it happens.

It says initial review and that a letter was mailed on July 1st about the process. As of now, I haven't received the mail. Do they really send a mail is it a standard wording?

Elis Fees paid: 06/04/2014

PoE - 06/06/2014

SSN Received: 06/16/2014

Elis Optimized 07/01/2014

Elis Closed 07/29/2014

Green card mailed 08/01/2014

USPS reports undeliverable 08/02/2014

Called USCIS and gave new address 08/05/2014

On July 1, 2014, the production of your new card began. Please

allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need

something from you we will contact you. If you move while this card

is being created, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

my status has been stuck on this since 1st of July and no update except on ELIS which updated on july 4th . its over 2 months now since I POE. why is it taking them so long?

2 months is quite normal. That said, if your status doesn't change from the above in the next couple of days, especially if there is a more recent status date update on ELIS than 1 July (if I understand you right there has been), then contact them. This happened to me - the ELIS update was actually card production failure but I didn't find that out for another month or so :( However, as ELIS tells you to wait 30 days, they will probably not give you any response until those 30 days are up...at least that was my experience.

my case went from optimized to reopened. this happened today after I made a call to uscis. please, what is going on?

Yeah, sounds like the same thing as happened to me - sounds like something went wrong with the card production process - you'll probably find tomorrow or the next day the case status tracker shows a new start date for card production. Glad you were able to get movement happening faster than me!!

Because card production failed. Because they had to start producing a new one. (As i said in the previous post: you would see a new date for card production...) Because they had to reopen your case, even though it wasn't closed, to do that.

Just be thankful they didn't make you wait 30 days from 1 July before talking to you about it.

Thanks for notifying me. I called them immediately I read your post this morning and my status date changed to 10th july from 1st july. I checked again the content of the post read that " on july 10, 2014 your card order was corrected or verified and we re-ordered a new card for you". I called the uscis back and had to wait for over an hour to speak to an immigration which she told me that they have started the production of my card. I think the problem came from my status as CR1 instead of IR1 . Am married for over 2 years before POE but my visa stated CR1 and the stamp at the entry also CR1. I told my lawyer but He said I should wait till the real card arrived. I think USCIS discovered that maybe. Thanks for sharing with me.

Did a CR1 DCF at Guangzhou, passed the interview on 11/12/13. Entered at LAX on 1/25/14. Received SS card two weeks later. Still no green card received three months later. Finally called USCIS hotline today and was told that the green card fee had never been paid. This despite the fact that GUZ required payment at the consulate before doing the interview. Rather than searching for the payment receipt and going through more waiting, I went online and paid the fee again at ELIS. Can't believe we wasted 3 months thinking it was on the way (why do they give you that piece of paper saying it will arrive in 6 to 11 months ???? )

Update: after calling USCIS on May 2nd and advising them of our address change verbally, and being assured the cards would be mailed to the new address, then paying the fee, I thought we were all set. But just in case, I did another address change online (same details) on May 14th on the USCIS website. Later status updated that the cards had been sent by Priority Mail on May 12th but to the old address. On May 15th, the status changed to mail undeliverable. Since we have a forwarding order with the post office, we thought it was no big deal. But then somehow one card gets forwarded and one card gets returned to Texas. Instead of the two days it took to go from TX to NH, it then takes 25 days to go back to TX. (at least according to the status updates, that is)

June 16 we call again to make the address change again and are assured that the card will be sent right out to the new address. Nothing happens until July 10th, when the status updates to reflect that an address change has been made on July 9th and the status goes back to "Initial Review." How can it be in initial review when the card has already been sent out two months ago? And why does it take 23 days to enter the address change, that has now been given three times, into the computer system? Another two months lost...amazing !
