Interview date: Feb. 18, 2014

POE: April 12. 2014

Payment date: Mar. 18, 2014

ELIS's status is still under acceptance.

Have you applied for an SSN yet?

If not I suggest you do so. Start counting when you may get the green card from the POE date as that is after payment date. You haven't yet reached 1 month which is the soonest I've seen it happen.

No, I haven't applied for an SSN yet and is going to do it tomorrow. I am not sure how long we will get the GC.

:( I wonder what this huge backlog is ....

A few months ago they were taking 1-2 months

My card production failed in Feb and I am still waiting for it since POE in Dec (the rest of my family got theirs in Feb)... Wondering if the re-order has gone to the back of the line and now also stuck in this huge backlog :(

It will affect it but not by much if you pay now, they (supposedly) don't start the process of card production until they have notice that the fee has been paid, or you enter, whichever is the later. So you pay now, just a week's delay.

You should get your SSN card automatically if you ticked the box, but "should" does not necessarily mean "will", if you haven't received it after a couple of weeks go to your SS office and check. If you need your number before then you should also be able to get it from your local SS office (take your passport with for ID and because it has your alien number on the visa).

If you are talking about SSNs, everyone has their own. It is basically your identity number. The only thing I have ever heard people taking about filing jointly is taxes...
