You don't need all that to just update your address. It's okay.

You don't need the address. 3 of the 4 green cards on our application (all on one ELIS account) have arrived despite the address not being on ELIS. It can't be that that is delaying the 4th...

You said you were out of the country. Are you back to US yet? Have you had any problem in your POE when you present just the stamped I-551. I just wanna know if they would ask questions if im back to US w/o my greencard.

Not back yet but know a number of people who have gone back with just passport stamp, absolutely no problem.

Suziqqq. It is not likely an issue BUT it doesn't hurt to extinguish all possible avenues either. Has your experience with the USCIS been such a favourable one that you really are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here? I was living with my sppuse after 8 months last year and most are not even getting a petition done in that time right now. I don't trust the USCIS as far as I can throw them.

I have to actually say that apart from this particular issue... I have had no problems with USCIS at all ... The process has been smooth and efficient from day 1 until, well, until the card got stuck "in production". Two earlier email queries to ELIS were both answered quickly and thoroughly, the second one they could not help on but forwarded to TSC for me (rather than just telling me to contact them myself for example)... I think the issue is at TSC.

I realize of course my happy experiences with USCIS may not be universal!!!

im trying to update the information on my account , plz how to answer this question:

Add New ID Type
Government-issued Identity Type:
i have the SSC and my passport do i have to pick
Other Gov id or passport ? thanks

i say don't do it. Some of the backroom operations handle that, already,

but

if you do want to do this, upload the scans. I'm going to upload scans this weekend and see what happens.

If you do enter that stuff, it's my understand YOU MUST upload scans. Or maybe I got it wrong, I'll report back next week.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You do not need to update everything to update the address is what I meant.

Agree with @NLR.

I updated my address successfully on ELIS without having to provide proof of identity. When you are about to edit/update your profile, you can see that they specifically say that updating your profile will require proof of identity with the exception of a few things - address, notification method, and something else.

The first thing that pops up is your name - don't change anything, just click next until you get to address. Enter your address because it is very likely that it is not on your ELIS account.

Updating your address on ELIS might or might not affect the overall process but doesn't hurt to do so.

Yeah that's what it says, but it wouldn't allow me to save my change of address without going though all the steps. So I left it. That was before any of us were optimized. Then... Some time after that (not sure how long) I was optimized, rest of my family optimized a day later. Then they all went to production a day before I did... Then they all got their cards in 6 days and here I am still waiting ... All a bit bizarre.

Thank you Darnell, NLR ,vegasbound

hi vegasbound have your received your mailed card?

Yes, it came in the mail today!

It's such a beautiful card and I can't believe that concludes my journey to become a permanent resident. Guess USCIS will have to deal with me again in 3 years for citizenship. tongue.png

A big thanks to the VJ community for helping me on my journey and good luck to everyone!kicking.gif
