All - please visit your local social security administration office and submit a new application if you want to expedite allocation of SSN and production of green card. This is from my own experience and many other people in this forum had the same experience.

In my VISA application I had checked the option to automatically get SSN. It is now more than six weeks since my POE and nothing happened. Calling USCIS and SSA did not help. In this forum many people commented things started moving immediately (the very next day) after they visited their social security office. I visited the local SSA office yesterday and they could not locate my details in their database. Yesterday I submitted a new application to SSA office (it is a simple one-page application) and they conveyed they will check with immigration and process the SSN. Today I received a mail from USCIS that the card (probably green card) has gone to production and will be mailed within 30 days.

Apparently the applications sit in ELIS with no status update for many weeks / months. If you visit your SSA office and submit a new application, the SSA folks query the USCIS database about your alien status and that triggers a change and move your case to card production. Many people commented on this in this forum and that is exactly what happened with my application. If you already paid your fee, selected the option to automatically get the SSN and have been here for more than a couple of weeks after the POE and nothing has reached you, please visit your local SSA office.

Hello all,

I've been following your posts closely for the past few weeks or so. Here is my timeline:

$165 Immigrant Fee paid : Dec 9th, 2013

POE at Dallas-Fort Worth: Dec 22nd, 2013

Received SS card: January 4th, 2014 (automatically didn't have to go to local SS office)

As of today Feb 5th, 2014, I still have NOT received anything (green card, Welcome letter, etc.) from USCIS at all sad.png ON ELIS website, my status is still as ACCEPTED ever since Dec 9th.

I have finally called USCIS today and asked to speak to an immigration officer. I've been told my card application is still being processed (!) , but they need me to update my address because the system didn't have any info of my physical mailing address. The Officer instructed me to fill out AR-11 online. I did that but I was concerned about the reason why I had to do this. Didn't they get all the information especially the address of where to mail the card? I did receive my Social Security Card at the correct mailing address anyway, so I don't know why USCIS does not have my address in their database. I was told to keep waiting and check back after 90 days from Immigrant Fee's Receipt Date (Dec9th), so it looks like sometime in March... sad.png

Does anyone have POE at DFW and still not have green card like me? Any comments for my case?

Thanks!

Respectfully,

You can update your address on the ELIS website. I would do that.

What about those of us who got the SSN card quickly without having to do anything but still stuck on "accepted" in ELIS....? Sunday is 45 days since POE, I guess I will be contacting USCIS on Monday!

Yes, it is perfectly normal. approximately after 1-3 months after your POE it will turn into " optimized" . Looking at previous posts, it is taking roughly 5-8 weeks. But you never know. Once it is optimized on ELIS, you could track it on USCIS case status using the receipt number ( starts with IOE). It will tell you when the green card mailed and the tracking number. But if you try to check it before it is optimized, it simply says " this case cannot be found".

If you have checked your box in your application for SSN, you should automatically receive SSN cards in the mail within 1-2 weeks of POE.

In reality, your endorsed I-551 visa label on your passport acts like a temporary green card for one year.

Ty lonelylonley,

Still waiting for SS# and GC , however im not in a rush for them but sure would like the SS# so i can drive here in California .

Oh well here is to hopeing that arrives soon .

Thanks for your reply to my question :)

Respectfully,

Hi - this is one of the big internal-process errors that I've gleaned , and you've stumbled into it.

When ELIS wakes up after POE, many times the address from the DS-260/230 is wiped.

I've no clue why, either.

Help!

After reading some comments that addresses seem to disappear off ELIS after POE I thought I would check. Sure enough, no address. So I tried to update but it then won't let me save it without uploading evidence of who I am?! Saying I need to do this in order to continue processing request to change non-immigrant status...:

.....

You must provide at least ONE type of evidence for Identity support. Please refer to your USCIS official RFE Notice for detail instructions.

......

The thing is, (1) I already have LPR status obviously - so I don't have non-immigrant status (and I did not do AOS) and (2) I do not have any RFE notice from them....

And all that after the system says you don't need to upload proof of identity just to change the address.

Any suggestions?

I got the same problem too at first. But if you only intend to update your address, email, or phone number, it won't ask you to go further to provide ID evidence and such. Just make sure you only update those 03 items. Don't even update gender or citizenship status.

I did notice it originally when suddenly my ELIS status changed after the visit to the SSA office. Looks to be a pattern!

This exactly. Just change those few items, not everything.

Do not wait on your SSN. Go to the nearest SSA office ASAP and apply. This seems to actually wake up your ELIS account (make sure you update your address in the ELIS) and get the party started.

Yes contact the USCIS!! The other thing you can do is go get a driver's license or state ID. Even though my green card and SSN was correct, my SAVE db was wrong, but I couldn't correct it at a POE for the driver's license to work out. I had to correct it through the DMV (in Colorado that meant going directly to the Department of Revenue.) This may also help to trigger the ELIS to get on board. Also make sure you have updated your address within the ELIS website.
