Sorry of this is a dumb question, but : Does anyone actually know how this works? Do all the POEs forward the visa packets to a central location for processing?

To the poster above, I am only assuming that timelines will be similar, but it may depend on procedures at POE too. If anyone has insight into the mechanics of the process would be appreciated.

Thanks - sorry I did read through the whole thread a while ago but couldn't remember if it was there.

Can you clarify something though which I didn't seem to find - does the production process get triggered when the data is input at POE or do they wait to receive the physical visa packet before starting the process? We got our SSN cards pretty quickly so I'm assuming everything was on track at POE. Thanks

I posted something new about it,here, yesterday. I not remember where I put it,either sad.png

IMO, A-File reclamation seems the biggest variable, as each CBP POE back-room office seemingly has different standards for A-File reclamation.

09/19/13 - Fee paid

12/14/13 - POE

01/13/14 - emailed ELISHelp about status

01/14/14 - USCIS responded that TSC will contact me

01/28/14, today (exactly 45 days after POE) I received this response:

A search of USCIS records indicates your Immigrant Visa Fee has been paid. However, after a thorough search, the Texas Service Center is unable to locate a record for you in our electronic systems based on the information you provided. The Texas Service Center has recently implemented a new database to track these cases and provide better customer service. The process of moving from one database to another has caused a slight delay. We hope to have this delay corrected as soon as possible. If you do not receive your Permanent Resident Card within the next 90 days, please contact customer service.

Any advice on what to do next, aside for wait 90 days?

Sorry if I'm being painful here with all the questions... but what is A-File reclamation?

Sorry if I'm being painful here with all the questions... but what is A-File reclamation?

Contents of the visa packet. It travels around the world, let's see?

I-130 submittal into USCIS lockbox -> USCIS Adjudicating Center -> A-File created -> Transit from USCIS into NVC -> NVC Doc Intake and fees -> DHL shipping to IV Unit at the Embassy -> Interview -> Visa Packet generated from all contents of the File -> Shipping from IV Unit to Visa Beneficiary -> Visa Beneficiary hand carries packet to CBP POE -> CBP POE takes the file, slings it into the backroom at the POE -> Humans at the POE review stuff, use a computer keyboard -> file sent to USCIS -> File arrival logged with USCIS -> ELIS notices this.

at each major point, stuff is added to the A-File. The stuff in bold is part of the A-File reclamation process.

Perhaps it's just my label? A-File Reclamation. Seems appropriate, but I've not read of it elsewhere.

Nope - just wait. I take that message to be a positive sign (in general) that a piece of ELIS is getting revamped.
