Green card production after ELIS

Thanks NLR. My mother still has not come to USA yet.

What would be the best way to change the address now, so that she gets the green card on time at my current address without any hassle?

Thanks for your help.

you can't until she gets here. She can update CBP and you can update ELIS but after arrival I suggest a few calls to the USCIS to make triple sure they have the correct address. Forwarding doesn't work for this kind of mail either.

Input your IOE # into the USCIS case tracker to see a tracking number. Should take 2 or 3 days! YAY!

O wow! I just did that. Expected delivery is actually today!! Lol...how I wish getting my SSN was this easy! I actually have a job lined up but the start date will be delayed because I don't have a number yet...but that is another story.

Thanks!

Good luck to everyone waiting for their GC. O! I paid my fee before POE. my fee was paid 14th April,2015

Hi All,

My POE was 25th May at LAX.

ELIS shows this -

Receipt ID: IOExxxxxxxxxxx

Request Type: USCIS Immigrant Fee

Case Received Date: Apr 2, 2015

Received as: E-file

Status: In Process

Status Date: May 26, 2015

Payment: Submitted

I received my SSN card on June 2nd, so I'm already all good with that. :-)

I had to return to the UK yesterday (June 4th) to wrap-up some work-related items and terminate my house lease. I did tell the CBP officer at LAX that i'd be doing this, she said it's fine.

So presumably now I just wait for the status in ELIS to change? When I enter the IOE number in USCIS, I get "My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again."

Do I need to do anything? Thanks guys.

Thanks NLR. I have not paid the ELIS yet. Can I update the address when paying for ELIS?

You have to pay on ELIS to get the card. It will never come otherwise. You can update the address but it's best to make sure the address is updated at the port of entry and also with the USCIS as well. If you do not do all 3, you may run into issues.

IOE number doesn't show up in case status until you're at least optimized, but often not until the case is closed and card is produced. Then it gives you a tracking number.

You also won't see much movement for at least 3 weeks after POE. I have not seen a card come quicker than that.

Hi All,

I paid my green card fee on April 28, 2015, POE May 12 and got my Social Security Card 2 weeks later. Now the issue is that the social security card came with my name incorrect in that they combined my first and middle names as my first name. All documents in my possession proves that i did input all my names correctly. I went to the local SSC office to get it sorted out and they informed me that if they change it on their system I will be having verification issues until both cards, immigration (green card) and SSC, have the same information. I have called USCIS to give them the correct information before they produce the card. The person I spoke to kept insisting that i had input the information incorrect but the USCIS immigrant fee receipt proves that i did input correctly. They agent said they have added a note to my file to show the correct name. I am not sure however if there is more I should do. Can I visit immigration at the airport to have them correct the info on their system? Or should I just visit the local USCIS office to ensure that all is correct?

Help!!

I suggest an infopass so they can correct your SAVE database. SSA should have fixed it. It's a common error due to CBP software not being completely compatible with the SAVE.

Thanks NLR,

The lady I spoke to at SSA said she could change it but CBP would need to change on their side too. So she suggested that I go to the local USCIS office to sort it out first and then come back to SSA. Said if she changed from her side it could result in verification issues so she advised putting off getting drivers license etc. until i sort this out. Is this bad advice?

No it's not. I had some issues with mine as well. My SSN card was fine and so was the green card but I had to make a trip across town to get my SAVE db fixed to get my driver's license. The DMV wouldn't let me get one until I had a special letter saying it was fixed. It was fixed in 2 days but the letter took a month. :(

Thanks for the advice NLR, I appreciate it.

I also had a name issue with my SSN card - I had to go to the Social Security office to get it corrected - my two middle names were included in my first name, so I ended up with three first names and no middle names at all!

I just had to show my passport and IR1 visa and they fixed it. I'm hoping this wont cause an issue with the green card issuance.

I've already been to the California DMV and have my drivers permit, so there were no problems there. Presumably now I just have to bide my time and wait for the green card to show up, or do I need to speak to USCIS?

Any ideas?

Given how names are written on an SSN I'm not sure how you can tell the difference betweena middle and first unless all 3 names were written without spaces? My husband's SSN has everything written in a single line. Mine is on two lines.

Anyhow, the green card for you is likely fine.

I found out it was incorrect when I tried to sign-up for ssa.gov

I called the SSA and they advised me that I had three first names and no middle names and that's what was kicking out my attempts to sign-up.

Oh. I never bothered i guess since I had to go to the SSA office to even get my SSN card.

I did always think it was odd that my husband's card looked different than mine. But considering Canada's SIN cards have changed over the years, why not SSN too.

I ended up at the Department of Revenue to change my SAVE db when I couldn't get my driver's license switched over. I was just happy that Colorado did that vs doing everything from scratch like many states.
