"I actually believe applying for SS and the green card initiation are linked. We paid for green card since 1st week in Feb 2014 and POE was 27th Feb. We never received any SS Card nor green card, so we went to SS office last Friday to make a fresh application and yesterday the elis website showed optimized.

They are kind of linked."

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JEWEL4LIFE

jewel4life BECAUSE OF HIS POST, I WENT AND APPLY SS FOR DAD, BECAUSE MY DAD'S STATUS KEEP SAYING PENDING/REVIEW. JUST CAME BACK FROM APPLYING SS CARD FOR DAD, AND WHEN I GET HOME AND CHECK ELIS IT IS NOW OPTIMIZED. I REALLY BELIEVE APPLYING SS WILL WAKEN UP YOUR SLEEPING pending review STATUS ON ELIS.

NO HARM IN TRYING GUYS. GO GET YOUR SS CARD TO GET YOUR ELIS STATUS OPTIMIZED.

I think they are linked. It's because the SSA references your SAVE db and okay's your ability to recieve and SSN with the USCIS. This makes the USCIS go OMG, yes they get a green card. "OOPS... my bad" (USCIS say "OOPS" a lot IMHO.)

My ELIS website says they mailed me the card on March 18. I still haven't received anything.

Also, ELIS website says not to contact them before 30 days after shipping the card.

But, honestly, I almost lost hope to receive it.

P.S. The SSN came approximately one week after I came on February 3rd.

POE - New York.

over at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp

if you make a new account there,

then add the receipt # from ELIS into this other system (called CRIS, fwiw) ,

you can actually see status for what it going on.

Can also sign up for electronic notifications...

IMO, you've a mis-sent green card. If the address stored in ELIS is not the same as on the DS-260, you're gonna suffer a bit (like we did).

Guys, the 1st green card showing it's produced last Monday is received today in the mail. So from card produced on 7th April to received on 9th April.

The issue now is we've only been married for less than 2years but the card issued is for 10years. I think this is a mistake, what do we do now?

Regards

You need to send it back with an I-90 and request a new card because of their mistake.

At USCIS they told me that the card was delivered to NY, but not given to delivery and sent back to Texas. They also gave me the tracking number and I called the USPS to find out. Couldn't reach anyone, though, except the auto reply, so had to send them a request from website, they should reply within 2 business days.

The USPS website itself says that the card has been received in New York on March 20 and sent back to Texas April 1st.

Yup, you've got a mis-sent card.

How to fix?

Call into USCIS again, get an ISO, tell the ISO you have mis-sent mail and it arrived back to Texas,

then give over the new address, and ask that it be resent.

When I talked with an ISO last week to get this done for my wife, we were told 25 days before it would be resent.

as to calling USPS - why? hit usps.com and track it yerself. use a computer.

I am sorry, but what is ISO?

And I wonder why this happened, why is it mis-sent? The lady I talked to in USCIS today told me that the mail arrived in New York, but was never given for delivery. The address that I have on file is different from the one I live at now, but at the old address my husband's relatives live, so they couldn't have missed it, they would get it for me...
