We have applied for my wife's adjustment, forms I-485, I-765, and I-131 on April 11, 2013 and we received a confirmation by email and text message. We did not receive any receipt in the mail. We checked the status of the case online at USCIS website using the msc numbers provided in the email. On the website we found out that the mail sent to us was undeliverable and we must call the 1-800 375 5283 to get the address updated. We called numerous times and we were told to wait initially 15 days, then 30, then 45, then 60 days. The excuse for the delay was that the agency was busy at the time. on the Uscis web site when checking the status for forms I-485 and I-765 we still get the message that the address needs updating, even after more than 60 days since we called first time.

In June , 2013 we checked the the status on the form I-131 online and we found out that it was approved on the 10 of June. We called again the 1800 number and we were told that the travel document was mailed on the date the was approved (10th of June) . We did not receive it. We checked with the post office where we were told that there is nothing from USCIS. We receive regular mail without any issues for many months. Is there a tracking number that can be checked in order to find where the document was lost? According to Uscis web site important mail is tracked to insure acurate delivery.

We are very concerned that there is still an issue with our address not being accurate in their system and because of this we did not receive ANY MAIL from USCIS with the sole exception of the appointment letter for biometrics sent from USCIS office in Missouri in April.

I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter.

Is your wife's name on the mailbox?

This is a serious issue and you can be denied for all the returned mail.

First, you need to call the USIS and have them resend all mail to your address. Second, you need to go to your local post office and complete a form that indicates all people that can receive mail at that address. My wife's NOA1 for her I-765 was returned, but her bio appointment letter was not. This was because the substutite letter carrier was returning mail addressed to her. I found this out by sending a card from my office to our home addressed to my wife. It was returned. This is a USPS issue not an USCIS issue. MOst people forget to tell the USPS about new household members. This is more of a problem with apartments.

Good luck,

Dave

When we checked on our status online, USCIS included the USPS tracking number. In fact, just clicking on the link populates the tracking number and takes you right to the page. If this is not the case in your online case status, USCIS will surely have the tracking number as this is their means of sending your documents and/or cards. Call them back and demand the tracking number.

this sounds really familar,

as I've written about 'returned postal pieces' a bit over the last few days.

hmmmm

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The tacking number you are talking about is for the actual card. During the AOS process there is a BIO appointment, there is an acceptance of the I-765 and the I-485 and lately there is an interview appointment letter. None of these are sent using a tracking number. They are sent regular first class mail and if the USPS is returning them then the OP needs to have them RESENT ASAP and the OP needs to get thee to the local post office in their area to see why the items were returned. This is a USPS issue, but like Darnell has been saying the OP needs to call and ask about returned mail pieces and have them resent nowish.

I re-read the post and realize it was regarding 131 Notification. Oops, my bad and YES you are absolutely correct. Tracking numbers are for cards when mailed (Combo Card and GC). Sounds like a USPS issue indeed. Strange the Biometric appointment received and nothing after that.

DAVE&Roza ....... I am pretty sure that in the United States Of America , mail is delivered to the " Address " . I am sure it would be a nightmare to keep adding peoples names to the list at the Post Office when the actual physical address ( almost ) never changes . Good Luck Everyone !!
