Back story: 16 year old girl in California was raped outside her school where she has been attending a dance. Up to 20 men were involved - she has no memory of the attack. Her father called to find out where she was during the attack so he could pick her up and one of the men was stupid enough to answer and described to the father what they were doing as they did it..

What makes this trial interesting, two men are currently on trial, one black and one white.. to quote the article: The men are being tried together, but in front of two separate juries. They’ll hear the same evidence but deliberate in two different rooms, each weighing the fate of one defendant.

What could possibly go wrong with that brilliant plan?

It says they called her father.

Not the other way around.

You are right.. It has been reported both ways.. I had read the UK Daily Mail article that reported the father making the call:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2335716/Trial-begins-horror-assault-girl-16-gang-raped-20-men-left-dead-homecoming-dance.html

"As many as 20 men are thought to have participated in the attack, Cope told the jury, with one even answering the girl's cell phone and telling her father how good his daughter was at sexual acts."

I linked to the other article because it had the trial info that I found more interesting and it is not discussed in this article.

One has to wonder why 20 men aren't being charged?

Two have already plead guilty (presumably made deals), two more are waiting to go to trial.. If there is little evidence and she has no memory of the event it is probably proving difficult to identify them.

I was surprised by the ages of the men.. so far the age range is 18 to almost 50.. Not like a bunch of high school morons going out of control on homecoming night. Human trash seeing an opportunity.

Yah, I'd guess so. Still thats just 6 of 20, you'd think more would be charged. Things like this kind of get me a bit peeved.

Maybe the two that have settled will give up the others - I would think it would be a required part of any deal.. no DNA evidence and no possible way for the victim to identify them... difficult case.
