Married today and found many misspelled mistakes on the certificate

So my fiance and I got legally married today and the clerk misspelled my last name twice as well as my father and mother last name on it. It was such a fine print we didnt notice till the office was closed. Now this was definitely the clerk mistake as I definitely know I did not misspell my own name and she typed it wrong. What now? Would they fix it on the spot tomorrow when i bring the two certificates back to them? I paid 15$ for each certificate. I was hoping to file for AOS asap but this will most likely slow down things.. smh

Go back to the court tomorrow and tell them they made mistakes on your certificate. They should fix the problem for you and I would personally insist they provide me copies of the corrected certificate free of charge.

Yep, we went first thing today and changed the mistakes free of charge as the clerk said she isnt filing the certificates till friday anyways. Now 1 more question, on the certificate it says its valid till sept 30th. Is that just the date the licence is issued until? We had a ceremony and witnesses so as far as i know our marriage is forever not till just Sept, right?

It sounds almost like you have marriage licenses valid for marriage ceremony until Sept 30. You mentioned the clerk won't file them until Friday. Does she mean record them in the county records? Usually that happens before a certificate can be issued....certifying the marriage is recorded in the records of the county. The best solution is ring them and ask.

I would not use the marraige certificate they gave you at the time of the ceremony. There are many comments in the AOS links that state people got an RFE for not submitting a certified marraige certificate. We had to wait 15 days before we could order them.

I am understanding it the same way. Your marriage LICENSE, and/or receipt of ceremony, is valid until the expiration date. You will receive your certified marriage CERTIFICATE in the mail.

As long as the information was corrected before the county clerk filed it, you should be good to go!

Congratulations! :)

That is what i dont understand cos i told the clerk we need a copy and she said we had to pay 15$ for it and it is the only was at that is the certified copy. I guess i will wait and call them on friday. It said its a certificate of vital reccord on top of the letter with the water stamps and the signatures of us both and our witnesses.
