We are clients of Michael Solomon and he processed our adjustment of status through marriage. We dealt with a great guy called Shad who kept on top of everything and communicated with us on every step of the way. However, when we received our interview date, I remarked to my Husband that the emails from Shad had stopped and we heard nothing from their office. Then, the day before the interview, Michael's Wife, Erika, phoned us to advise us on what we needed to take with us. Calling us the day before to let us know was ridiculously last minute. Luckily we had spent the previous 5 weeks compiling all our necessary paperwork so her call was useless to us at that stage.

Some days after the interview I called their office and sent emails but nobody returned any of my emails over the course of a couple of weeks. Eventually I got a woman on the other end of the phone. When I told her that I had emailed a couple of emails but nobody had replied, she didn't apologize or explain. She asked if she could take a message and that Erika would call me back. I enquired as to when I would receive a call. She said "I don't know". Outrageous. So I told her that it was vital that someone called me that day! Erika called back and mentioned that she saw my email over a week before but again, no apology for not responding.

That was about 6 weeks ago. I got my Green Card two weeks ago and there is an error on it so I need to get information from Solomon's to confirm for sure where the office initially filed our application. Again, I call this morning and get the same woman who answers the phone and takes messages. She says "Oh, I don't have the file here so I'll have to get Michael to call you back". Again I ask "will that be today" and again I get the response "I don't know". So I have just passed the details to my Husband who will call them today and he is mad as hell!

I came online here to see if there are any other people having issues with Michael Solomon's office and found your post.

We had wonderful service from them when we were dealing with Shad, up until April. I was told he is no longer at the company. I tried one phone number this morning and it's dead. Their website is also gone. I had a second number for the Florida office and tried that and got through to their receptionist. Something is up if their website is no longer in use. It's not acceptable to be told "I don't know" when the call will be returned. They got paid for their services.

Thanks for that Darnell but the domain name they also use is http://kvisalaw.com/ and that is now obsolete. Phonecalls and emails are not being returned. This is just so unusual compared to our experience with them for the first 6 or 7 months. They were so efficient and helpful and kept us in the loop on all communications.

Update - My Husband just called them and got nowhere with them and he emailed me now to say to me that "They are 1.) out of business and 2.) won't help anyway."

I'll find out more when he gets in from work tonight.

9 days later and still no word from Michael Solomon's office so I think it's safe to say he is no longer in business. I just wish his office would come straight out and say it.

@ redamber and @artist123 - We are also current clients of this law firm. They haven't responded to any of our calls and emails. Have you had any luck in reaching them?

My last email from them was early this month in which they promised us the necessary documents for our application. We got none.

We are very distraught about this.

I hired Solomon in July 2012. As another poster said, I was working with Shad, and he tried to help, and at least was responsive. After our I-130 was filed in July 2012, I communicated with Shad again in December to get the next step ready because I was going back to the Philippines and wanted thee attorney to be ready to file the next forms as soon as we got USCIS approval. I thought everything was in order, and I traveled to the Philippines. I got an email from USCIS in February that they had mailed a RFE, and I tried to contact Solomon's office then. I was extremely unhappy with them, as I could barely get him to respond at all. I finally found out they were no longer in New York, but that he was in Florida. He claimed he never received the RFE. I had them "re-mail it" four times, waiting several weeks each time to see if it came in the mail. They would not email it to me. We never eceived any mail from them.

USCIS said they mailed the RFE but we never received it. Solomon was very little help (make that no help) in obtaining RFE. I finally got the Dept of Homeland Security Office of the Ombudsman involved to get the RFE and email it to me. I received it about a week before the deadline to submit the information. If I had depended on Solomon I never would have received it by the deadline (90 days). I can't prove it but I believe the problem in receiving the letter was because he was no longer at his address on file with USCIS in New York. He never told me, or USCIS, that he had moved. I finally got the RFE with the help of the Ombudsman and sent them al the documentation thay asked for the day before the deadline.

Since that, I have had a very difficult time even contacting him. I sent him emails and left him phone messages that he never responded to. Weeks would go by with me totally unable to reach him, let alone get any help from him.

Since July 2013 he has been a LITTLE bit more responsive, but he totally dropped the ball on helping me get the process completed in a professional or timely manner. I feel like we got our US Embassy approval yesterday in spite of him, not because he was any help. I am totally sorry I hired him and am going to file a complaint with the state bar, and maybe sue him, when I get back to the USA in the next two weeks. He took my $2000 and did VERY LITTLE in return. I hired him because I wanted the visa process to go smoothly and to be as quick as we could make it, but in hindsight I wish I would never had hired him.

He has a lady named Nancy working at his office now, and she has tried to help, but I was asing for help in getting a new I-864 filled out to submit at my interview, and I had Income Tax questions I needed help with, and the responses I got were incorrect, sloppy and mistake ridden. I finally submitted the new I-864 without their assistance. They were supposed to email me a completed I-864, but I received someone else's I-130 application and all their personal information instead. If I was that guy I would be very unhappy.

His website promises help in preparing for the Embassy interview, but in our case we heard not a peep from them about this.

I wouldn't touch this guy with a ten foot pole, and I believe he is incompetent and unscrupulous. I would have been better off to do it myself or to use some other service to help me file the paperwork. He is still in business as of a few days ago, and apparantly still taking clients fees in advance. A word to the wise; avoid Michael Solomon.

footnote: we got Embassy approval yesterday at our interview and their website says the visa has been issued, so we expect to receive it in the next few days. We will be on our way home to Hawaii soon....it took us 14 months from the filing of the I-130 to US Emassy (Manila) approval.

We are also using this lawyer. At first they were very helpful and responsive. After they moved to Florida, contact eventually stopped. Now when I call all I get is some rude guy named Steve that will only take your name and phone number, but there has not been a returned call. Emails have not been answered either.

Currently, they have two web sites: http://www.k1-fiancee-visa-law.com/ and http://www.k1-fiancee-visa-law.com/fiance-visa-attorneys-and-spousal-visa-lawyers/.

Also, in doing a little research, Michael Solomon recently opened a new finance company. Perhaps he is too busy with that to hold up his end of the agreements through his visa law practice (he also has another law based business).

His law firm has been of no help since our documents were sent to the VSC. I have had to do their work since (we are nearly ready to make an interview appointmentsmile.png ).

I can only assume that we will receive no further assistance from them, and they were paid to help us in the process up through obtaining a green card. It is very angering!ranting33va.gif

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I hired Solomon back in October of last year and getting anyone from his office to email or contact you back is like pulling teeth, especially after he's got all your money. Education isn't free and this lesson cost me $2,820. Whoever is setting up a case to sue this scum, please get in touch with me.
