The concept is very simple:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

I'm really not sure how "shall not be infringed" is a confusing concept; it's about as close to "don't f*** with it" as they could have written when drafting that Amendment.
