Yeah, I know the feeling. I once lost it because I was watching a BBC show and there was a very short scene filmed at a mall we both visited in Manchester (granted, I had just left, so that probably had something to do with it). I cried for like a half hour, and I've never been the sappy sort!

I didn't realize so many people put on Skype while they were sleeping! I can see how being able to see your SO when you wake up (or vice versa) would be very comforting.

My ex and I owned a house together that lost 1/3rd of the value during the crash. We wanted to get rid of or separate everything we co-owned before filing for the divorce to make it as easy as possible (my Brit and I met shortly after my ex and I separated; we got engaged while all this was going on), and it took nearly two years to fix/prep the house, find a buyer, and go through the short sale approval process with the bank... only to have everything fall through at the last minute, and then find out we could've gotten divorced whenever we wanted and just kept the house in both our names, easy peasy After that was finally over, I applied for my Social Security card in my maiden name, so I could use it on the I129F (should've only taken like two weeks), SS just stuck my file in a folder and left it there for two months! In all, we had to wait six months from when we got engaged to when we could actually apply, but this wait is soooo much worse, and it's only been 2 and a half months!

I grew up in the south... I'm so over NASCAR that I accidentally groaned when I found out my fiance likes Formula 1 I will say, he has gotten me a little smitten with soccer/football, though. I even wore a Bolton Wanderers scarf to a match when I was visiting last April, and pretended I was just being a dutiful fiancee but truthfully, I enjoyed the hell out of it

I'm not surprised that you did! Watching a soccer game in any European country is an experience on to itself!

You are right there. I never thought of it in that way. And it happens quite a bit. For example, I find my taste for beer has increased cuz my husband drinks it and also his taste for a fantastic bone-dry crisp glass of white wine!

While I have, by sheer coincidence I assure you , taken more of a liking to good white wine, I will never pick up his like of beer or the brand of white wine he drinks *lol* It's more the food (pasties, pies, gammon, Yorkshire pudding, etc.) of his that's rubbed off on me, aside from the aforementioned sport (no Formula 1, though! Or tennis! I refuse! ). Oh, and his love of British comedy panel shows.

A friend of mine, in a USC/USC relationship, did recently take up a sudden obsession with craft beers and bicycling due to her boyfriend, though. So it's not just us weird bi-national couples

Hubby follows me when it comes to choosing wine. My parents own a wine store so I know alil about good wine

Pasties, pies! Yum! even though I live in Greece and am Greek by birth, I spent most of my childhood and the teenagehood in Melbourne Aus, so I miss food like that! Give me a Four and Twenty meat pie now please! lol!

And you are very right, its not just us. All couples take on other interests due to their significant others. I just think that we, who are in b-national relationships realise it abit more because we so far away from our loved ones!
