12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.

IV - Can you add me to the July filer CSC list?

I thought this one was going to be easy and fast, but apparently not. I haven't even looked much at VJ this time. Well, at least we are together and not waiting for the visa interview abroad.

Filed 751 = 7-5-13

NOA 1 = 7-15-13

Bio = 7-24-13

RFE = 9-12-13

Final = ?

Also Case Status Online didn't recognize the WAC number. I got thru to Call Center Tier 2 and was advised I have a second receipt number - which is weird. Now we are just pending.

Waiting is still frustrating. Was hoping to go on a Caribbean cruise before the holidays (we are retired), but I'm reluctant to travel with expired greencard. I know the NAO1 will get you back into the USA, but airlines and other country's immigration depatments are confused about the NOA1 letter serving as an extension.

Hoping for quick resolution. Think I may try the Congressman's office again. Good luck to all!

update: the approval letter came from the local office in nyc instead of csc where the noa said it was transferred to.

the letter says it takes 60 days for the gc to arrive..does it really take that long? im taking a trip soon and it will be awesome to be able to travel with the new gc instead of the extension letter.

My wife's green card went into production a week after the date of the approval notice and we received it a week later, so we got it 2 weeks after the approval date.

Was hoping to go on a Caribbean cruise before the holidays (we are retired), but I'm reluctant to travel with expired greencard. I know the NAO1 will get you back into the USA, but airlines and other country's immigration depatments are confused about the NOA1 letter serving as an extension.

Use the green card holder's (non-US) passport as the travel document for the airlines and the other countries. The green card + NOA1 are used ***only*** when the green card holder re-enters the US. There's no rational basis for any reluctance to travel, as long as your NOA1 extension is still valid (has not expired) on the date of re-entry.

The thing you DO need to be concerned about is bringing computers or USB sticks with you. Due to horrible US laws, these can be searched and seized on a whim - you have basically no 4th Amendment rights at the border.

Encrypt all your data (TrueCrypt is very well regarded and free encryption software, it provides very high security ***if the software is used correctly***), upload the encrypted data to several free cyberlockers, rent or borrow a computer while outside the US, download and decrypt, then re-encrypt and re-upload to cyberlockers right before you return the rental or borrowed computer (with all your data deleted and all the free space wiped clean) and then re-enter the US. From a secure, 4th Amendment protected location, you can then download and decrypt all your updated data.

Note: Do not write down your encryption passphrase and then carry it with you into the US - that can also be seized. Memorize it, and don't write it down anywhere or give it to anyone.

Waiting is still frustrating. Was hoping to go on a Caribbean cruise before the holidays (we are retired), but I'm reluctant to travel with expired greencard. FYI my daughter travelled to France with her expired GC + NOA1, no issues whatsoever!! Enjoy your cruise and who knows you will have a nice surprise in your mail box when you come back home ;)
