As I understand it as a UKC doing K1 via London I can self cert. I intend using cash from the sale of my UK property to demonstrate liquid assets.

I have two questions.

1) Do I still need to take an affidavit of support I-394 form (?) to my interview

2) Will the same approach work at AOS?

My partner who graduated this summer should have a suitable job to cover me by November but not by August / September when I expect to interview

No, the UK person does not fill out an I-134. London says what to bring on this embassy page http://london.usembassy.gov/faffidavit.html

After marriage, it's kinda 'mi casa es su casa', so your assets are considered her assets. The I-864 instructions explain you options pretty well.

Thanks - I'd read that but I wasn't clear in my question. On the presupposition that most people are sponsored am I likely to get asked for a I-134 or will they be unfazed by me saying "Don't have one here's my bank statements". I suspect the answer is no they won't be....

By odd coincidence I got my letter from the consulate this morning. It really is not a "packet" any more. Quite the flimsiest "important life changing document" ever :-)

The document collector person at the first window can be robotic (depending on who you get) about what they expect to be handed day in and day out. That isn't the interviewer, nor a consulate officer. You really want to present it and discuss it with the interviewer. Just get past that document collection with something like --- I wish to sponsor myself and have a spreadsheet summarizing my assets, as well as documentation to show the officer. Here's what happened Monday in London with basically a self-sponsor on the I-864 for a married couple. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/439076-approved-approved-approved-self-employed/

Well OMG that you have never read the pinned K1 London thread. Post #6 from over a year ago. I quote:

There is no "packet". That's old talk. Your instructions and forms are posted on the London website. You can start working on the forms at any time. London will send a letter to the UK beneficiary when they have received your file and are ready for you to apply for the visa. That letter will tell you to go to the website.

There's a copy of the letter in post#18. As many times as it's been discussed, did you really think you were getting a packet? Or are you just pulling my leg?

British humour I'm afraid. I have spent the last six months reading everything here and on other places and I've read the whole thread - probably more than once :-) I just thought it might look a bit less, well ####### than it did .

I was expecting something sorta hand crafted on parchment signed by the Ambassador not 75gsm copier paper printed on someone's home inkjet :-) But heck - it's the letter I've been waiting for ....

You should see the old packet 3. The most dreadful looking thing that looked like a poor copy of a copy of a copy off an old inkjet. And some of the pages, they couldn't be bothered to straighten on the glass.
