As of March 11th of this year, this trial has cost the city of Sanford over $600k USD. This was long before the trial even started. I can only imagine what it is costing them now. The entire city budget for 2013 is 87.9 million. I'm sure the cost is into the millions at this point in the process.

Right, but society should not bring frivolous charges against it's citizens simply because one segment of society wants it. Which is exactly what happened here. Al and Jesse and other race baiters got everyone all worked up over this. This case is getting more attention from the media, and the government than Newtown!

I wonder how many times the Florida state prosecutors office, the USDOJ, the FDLE, and the FBI investigate a local case that that will end up with a 2nd degree murder conviction at best? The governor stepped in and assigned a special prosecutor to this case! I can't think of any recent cases like this. It's pretty silly.

And yet one cannot help but wonder if the Newton shooter had survived how many people here in P&R would buy into any claims of self defense that guy might have made. Certainly many seemed to think that the kids shared some blame, going to school unarmed and thus unable to protect themselves.

I don't know if GZ committed murder or manslaughter, but I definitely think that the killing of TM falls on GZ. This didn't have to happen and GZ and his poor choices were a significant cause.

I'll let the jury decide but the case is hardly frivolous.

Granted.

But just because public outcry made the state rethink it's original conclusion doesn't mean that they are incorrect in pressing charges. Many wrongful police inflicted deaths are tried in this same way.

I'd argue that if there was no evidence against GZ that he'd be found innocent and has been afforded far more legal representation than most accused could ever hope to afford.

Most accused get an overworked PD that puts little effort in acquittal and most effort in a plea deal. Felonies are given out like candy to the unrepresented.

GZ is being more than fairly treated in a legal sense. Although every defendant would opt for NCF.

Would you agree?

I can understand a police inflicted death. That makes sense. Nobody wants a police department investigating itself. That was not the case here. No I don't agree that he's being treated more fairly than others. They guy wouldn't even be sitting in a court room if it wasn't for outside pressures.

He wants to dish out like man, he needs to learn to take like a man, too. Otherwise, he might end up the next Georgie boy.

Oh, I get it...you have a problem with him? Please don't reach for the phone, now its time for a defensive position MBD.

Don't make GZ's same mistake.

I don't get that reaction from GZ. He'd make a horrible cop. The kind that gets his gun taken is a scuffle.

In a rough neighborhood the unwritten rule is don't make eye contact, but if you do get is a situation, don't break eye contact.

I guess that wasn't in the MMA class or criminal justice course.

That is if that whole exchange even occurred.

Which other person was charged in similar fashion?

Incorrect. The investigator found issues with the story. They wanted to charge him, the investigators were overruled.

You might want to look into the evidence better and stop making wild assumptions based on hearsay.

Motion denied.

Call your next witness...

lol

may I take the stand. As Serino testified yesterday, and as he told the FBI he was being pressured to file charges by other officers, but did not think he had enough evidence.. i will also point out 2nd degree murder was never mentioned. Also FBI reported they found no evidence of racial bias.

sorry to keep interjecting facts into this little affair.

Detective in Zimmerman case said he was pressured to file charges

Man you need to go back to school. I was talking about the media coverage. Let me spell it out for you since you seem a little challenged upstairs. I'm TALKING ABOUT THE MEDIA ATTENTION THE CASE IS RECEIVING AS OPPOSED TO NEWTOWN. My god some people are dense.

Talk about apples and oranges.

It's not gonna bring my kid back. Let me ask you this. Is it worth 3% of the city budget to try this case? The kids dead. He aint coming back. Would it be ok for a city to go bankrupt because people that don't even live there are pushing this trial forward? What about Sanford in the future? I'm not sure what it was known for prior to this, but I know what it will be known for after this. Ahh #### 'em. Everyone getting their face on T.V. is much more important.

I bet other countries look at this spectacle and laugh. American justice my a$$. We look like a bunch of amateurs because the kid was black and the guy that shot him was white/hispanic. If it was black/black or white/white no one would have ever heard of this outside of central Florida.

But anyone who had a kid killed, even if it's on the battlefield wants to know the truth its human nature.

If it's all about those green pieces of cloth stamped with numbers (money) then why have cops? Just go back to mob rule. Its quick and easy and cheap because its all volunteer.

GZ kills TM and then TM's family gets revenge...and so on. That use to be order.

If your question is if the trial cost is worth it then that's a question for every trial, not just this case.

With 2 million in prison and climbing are we getting our money's worth? I'd say that's a big NO.

There's really no justice system, its a warehouse of humans with zero rehabilitation...thus a recidivism rate that's astronomically high. The system is broken to begin with, so two million is a drop in the bucket.

What about police chief who was forced out, is he not human?

Was he killed?
