Hi, maybe some one had a similar experience. My wife and stepdaughter (stepdaughter under 21 never married) arrived together in the us on their immigrant visas. Within a week they both received their social security card and not long wfter my wife received her welcome letter then about 2 weeks later her green card. But we never heard anything on our daughter. I called uscis but going to get a call back in 3 to 5 days. Theyve been in the US now almost a month. Thanks in advance for the replies.

We had the same issue, my sons got his green card over a month after mine arrived. I was calling around after I got my card but all they said was wait, and sure enough it arrived.

Kids under 18 that immigrated to US and living under the legal and physical custody of a US Citizen parent automatically acquires US citizenship under INA 320. If you're not that worried about the green card, you can just bring your kid to a local passport office and apply for a US passport. They would just need the kid's foreign passport with entry stamp, birth certificate and a proof of your US citizenship. Other than that you probably have to pay the new $165 immigrant fee first, details on USCIS website.

The us citizen is the step parent, the kid will need the green card. When the mother becomes a citizen then the child will automatically be one too. Or if the stepdad adopts then the cild becomes a citizen faster....

Alaska, you raised an interesting point. I adopted my stepson, but it was finalized after he was 18. I know that doesnt count unless adopting a sibling and the adoption process for my stepdaughter but shes 18. So I need to look into that. Thank you all for the replies, theyve been a huge help.
