So I'm doing a k-1 visa. Sent it in at the end of February/ early March. I've been checking my case number and nothing yet.. My case number ends with 38 and is in the California Service Center. Case number ending with 35 has been approved, case number ending with 39 has also been looked and got a RFE. But case numbers ending with 36-37-38(mine) have not been touched... Anyone know why that is happening? Any help would be appreciated :-)

Frustratingly, it seems to happen that way for some people. My case ended in 08 and literally everyone else from 01-19 was approved or had an RFE before we did. But we still got approved, and no RFE! Just be patient

Yes. From what I've read, they do not work in numerical order. Every "worker" gets allotted a number of petitions when they come in. If you are lucky, your paperwork gets handed to a competent individual. If you are unlucky, your paperwork lays in the hands of idiots. Completely normal to see petition numbers get approved out of order. Recently, CSC has slowed down to the "normal" snail pace, so don't plan on seeing an approval anytime soon. You'll just be disappointed and frustrated in the end. Mine has been at the CSC since Feb 6 and they still have a backlog of 2012s with RFEs. My advice, keep yourself occupied. This line is slower than the DMV. 9 months seems to be the average for the entire process, so plan on at least 9 months from beginning to end.

May I ask where are you going to see the case numbers being approved?

You can do it on the USCIS site by manually changing the last 2 digits of your petition number. You can look at many different petition status ahead or behind yours.

Thanks for the info! Yeah keeping myself occupied is key... Wouldn't be so bad if I could go visit, but I don't really want to use up my vacation time at work. Saving it to go to Costa Rica for the interview at the embassy

I do not think that is the right way to check. I checked the case 1109 is not touched and the other one 1124 has been approved on July 1. Of course, my case 1134 won't be approved anytime soon. However, we are at Vermont Center and It could be that 1124 was transfered to Texas and got approved.
