Awesome! Have you called NVC? I saw a few cases on VJ where NVC said that they received the case but hadn't generated a case number in the morning, then a few hours later, the case number was available.

Yes, called them a little while ago but plan on calling back later this afternoon. Oh it's on now! Like multiple calls per day now that I know my case is finally in NVC's hands! ha ha haaa

Just checked the CEAC website. It says "READY"; It was "IN TRANSIT" till today morning & changed only an hour before. So Do we give it a couple of days & start calling DoS to make sure if the consulate (Montreal, canada) received it? or do we just send our packet 3? what do you guys suggest? b'se Montreal sends out a checklist of Packet 3 afaik.

I'm not sure if this thread will help answer your question. If it doesn't, maybe you can post your question there since its Canada specific :)

What we did was email the embassy with our case number to inquire about the status - I just said that I knew NVC had sent it and was wondering what is next etc.

They sent me an email back within an hour - with a copy of our instructions letter and said that we would get a hard copy mailed out soon. Within a couple days we got the letter in the mail - it wasn't what I was expecting for "Packet 3" - it was just a letter saying to go to a website where the instructions are and what to do next. But I guess every embassy does it differently. Seems like everything is online now.

So if you are as impatient as I was - I would email the embassy - look for their immigration dept. email and just ask what is next - if they notify you once they receive it or not and what you should do to prepare. They may just send you the packet 3 letter in the email like they did for us smile.png

** You can see in my signature - the timeline... when we saw that it said "Ready" ... was the same day emailed and got our packet 3 letter from the embassy, so I don't think you necessarily have to wait a few days.

I'm so sorry to hear that :( And yeah I do think it's a possibility that that's the reason you're still in background checks. One of my friends has the same name as a suspected terrorist and a few years back, when he entered the USA, CBP held him for almost 48 hours until they confirmed it was an error. He missed his connecting flight and the conference he was supposed to speak at. Craziness.

I'm not sure what else you could do in this case except wait it out. Once they've run all the checks they need to, and they see for sure he's not the same guy as your cousin, I'm sure the approval will come. I would suggest appealing to your senator/congressman but I think they usually refrain from getting involved until it's outside normal processing times. All I can say is, hang in there...

In a way it's sort of a relief to have a possible reason in mind for the hold up rather than just going crazy with the unknown!

I'm just hoping for at least an NOA2 before my contract with work is up in mid Dec, so I can at least see a clear path ahead for getting back to the States. So, fingers and toes... :)

2013 7/15 I-129F sent, 7/18 received Dallas lockbox, 7/22 NOA1, 10/22 NOA2, 11/15 NVC Case Created, 11/20 NVC Shipped, 11/25 Consulate received, 11/28 Packet 3 received/returned, 11/29 Medical, 12/9 Packet 4 received

2014 1/9 Interview - Approved, 1/15 CEAC - Issued, 1/17 Visa in hand, 2/5 POE: LAX, 4/4 Married!, 4/8 AOS/EAD/AP filed, 4/14 NOA1, 5/7 Walk-in biometrics, 5/19 EAD/AP approved (expedited), 5/22 EAD/AP mailed, 5/23 EAD/AP received, 7/29 Interview waiver letter

2015 4/13 AOS approved (no interview), 4/22 Green card received

2017 1/17 I-751 ROC filed (VSC), 1/23 NOA, 2/28 Biometrics

2018 1/31 ROC approved

2020 1/14 N400 filed

Does anyone know how long it takes for the status on the CEAC website to change from "At NVC"? Is the next step "In transit"?

Ours is now in additional processing which is a black hole at NVC because there are no reasons why. Hopefully yours does not fall into the same category.

Sorry to hear that. :\ Hoping your status changes again soon and things get moving again. From what I've read it can be as short as a day or two.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

Hopefully. I will call back and talk to a supervisor at NVC. It has been 6 days today. I know that is not much compared to what people have waited. Considering our NOA2 took 37 days it should NOT be any additional background checks. It should have something to do with processing which is dumb!

Yeah I'm pretty certain that the next step is "in transit" and then "ready" ... I kind of forget blush.png

I guess NVC got my application Oct. 10 - I called on Oct. 15 for my number, and when I checked online on the 15th, it said At NVC. Then later that night on the 15th, it said In Transit. Then I checked again and on the 17th, it said Ready - which I then emailed the embassy that morning asking if theyd received it and got my packet 3 letter emailed to me an hour later on the 17th.

I'm not sure when the site first said "At NVC" tho - because I didnt call for my number until the 15th - so it could have had that status for 5 days before I checked it.

So I think if everything goes well - it usually moves quickly. I don't know what happens when it goes to AP tho - I hope everyone moves out of AP quickly!
