How do you check receipt numbers??

Are you able to check your own case status on the USCIS website? If so, log in and you'll be taken to your portfolio page. Click on your receipt number. Now, look at the address bar. At the end of the URL address, you'll see your receipt number. Click on the end of the address bar and change the numbers, ie if it reads "EAC0000000008" then change it to "EAC0000000007" and see what their status is.

If you're yet to sign up to check your case status, go here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp and use your receipt number (found on NOA1, starts with either CSC or VSC)

We sent our I-129f on July 15th, recieved our NOA-1 on July 22nd, got transferred to Texas Service Center on August 6th. SO: I'm going to follow this thread too :) Looks like some people who got transferred on the same date as us already have recieved their NOA-2. Hoping for the best and good luck to everyone :)

I filed in July and our I-129f petition has already been approved?? Anyone else get approved so quickly? I'm sort of in shock right now, we had assumed it would be a longer process...

We have the same NOA1 dated July 15; however ours was in Cal while yours in Texas... We are still waiting for our NOA2... Congrats!

I think this is what is known as a 'touch'. Means someone has touched your file- they might have started working on it, moved it to another desk, anything like that.

We got the same "Alien Registration Number changed" update today as well.
Checked online and some reviews are stating that it means an improvement; some that people who has been to US before, get their Alien Registration Number changed during the process, so I guess it's a good thing that our cases got looked up?! *being hopeful*star_smile.gif

Good Luck

If your status JUST changed to show you have been given an alien registration number, it means that the beneficiary has been given a number and your case is in the system. When did you send your I-129F?

It's more likely to be a touch in the other poster's case because (as I understand it) their status has shown "your alien registration number has changed" since July. The date updated today but they are still seeing the same message from July- the fact that the date updated but nothing else means that someone "scanned" their file to show a "touch"- that it has been put on to their desk, that someone is working on it, that someone needed to check a detail within the file.

This makes for an interesting read, for anyone who wants to gain further insight into how the process works:
