Thanks again so much nightingale. I will be REALLY glad in the next 3 weeks when I get my certificate and passport in hand. Thank you too for answering in the passport section. Your post clarified everything I needed to know. yes.gif

My wife and I stared at her new passport for a few days straight.... LOL. It's a great feeling but in reality, for those still waiting, no reason to get frustrated. Once we're done with USCIS, there will be other things in life that will frustrate and bother us. Hang in there everyone. All the best.

My wife and I stared at her new passport for a few days straight.... LOL. It's a great feeling but in reality, for those still waiting, no reason to get frustrated. Once we're done with USCIS, there will be other things in life that will frustrate and bother us. Hang in there everyone. All the best.

Enjoy your oath ceremony tomorrow Jamericanlove, I know that you will have a wonderful day, which marks the start of your life as a USC. Thank you for the well wishes nightingale and CinMA! I finally became a proud USC this morning at approximately 9:20am. kicking.gif

I left home as early as I did on my interview day because I was worried about traffic and weather conditions. Got to the Atlanta field office at minutes to 7am and went inside at 7:30. A lot of people were already waiting outside the 2nd floor ceremony rooms in a big area filled with seats. Family members who came to watch were asked to wait on the right hand side of the room and soon to be USC's on the left. They gave us clipboards to fill out the back of the form and sign it before we filed into the ceremony room.

Inside, there were rows of seats with numbers on them and each had a packet and a small American flag on it. After we sat down an officer came through and took our letters and green cards and gave us a number that corresponded to the seat we were in. All of this prep took approximately an hour, and at minutes to 9am the ceremony finally started.

All 160+ of us from 40+ countries were welcomed, watched a video about the history of immigration in America, stood up when the names of our countries were called, said the oath, sang star spangled banner, said the pledge of allegiance, watched a video message from the President and watched a music video for "Proud to be an American". At that point we were congratulated as new USC's and given our certificates.

I was out by 9:30 am and got down to the passport agency in downtown ATL by 10am with my application and certificate in hand. By the time I was seen it was 11am and I was told to come back at 2pm for my passport. When I got back at 2 the passport was not ready as yet, so I waited and got called at exactly 3pm and was presented with my new US passport, and I got my naturalization certificate back.

So all's well that ends well! Thank you visa journey for providing this wonderful resource that has helped me through my entire journey, and thank you to my fellow VJ'ers for your camaraderie during this process. I wish you all the best for the future and I will be around to keep up with updates. smile.png

Inside, there were rows of seats with numbers on them and each had a packet and a small American flag on it. After we sat down an officer came through and took our letters and green cards and gave us a number that corresponded to the seat we were in. All of this prep took approximately an hour, and at minutes to 9am the ceremony finally started.

All 160+ of us from 40+ countries were welcomed, watched a video about the history of immigration in America, stood up when the names of our countries were called, said the oath, sang star spangled banner, said the pledge of allegiance, watched a video message from the President and watched a music video for "Proud to be an American". At that point we were congratulated as new USC's and given our certificates.

I was out by 9:30 am and got down to the passport agency in downtown ATL by 10am with my application and certificate in hand. By the time I was seen it was 11am and I was told to come back at 2pm for my passport. When I got back at 2 the passport was not ready as yet, so I waited and got called at exactly 3pm and was presented with my new US passport, and I got my naturalization certificate back.

So all's well that ends well! Thank you visa journey for providing this wonderful resource that has helped me through my entire journey, and thank you to my fellow VJ'ers for your camaraderie during this process.
