I've heard about this. Still doubtful that it will happen. Even if it doesn, we can always hope that it won't affect USCIS processing times too much if at all.

Congratulations everybody who's case status was updated on the 9/20! Us next please! Corrected Ryan_and_Priscy's interview date from 10/14 to 10/24. Does everybody get put in line or do some people get scheduled straight to an interview without being put in line?

Thank your for correcting my date! Regarding if I was put in line, well, I did not receive any hard copy about it, but after my fingerprints were taken, if I remember well, after 1 week I saw the status at USCIS.gov and it showed that I was in line. That is how I knew that then my interview date notification would be coming in.

Hi,

I had my interview today. It was at 1:45 but i didnt get There till 1:45. I was called by 2:30. The interview was short. The officier was very Nice. Je wanted to see my GC. ID. And passeport . He didnt make any copies just saw them and than put them away. We started by civil text English . Than I sighed the application.

I asked him when should I recieve my oath . He said he will find out for me but he changed his mind and said that I should recieve letter from one week to a month . Also he montioned that since I made a name change I will have to take my oath in the court room.

Well we did the info Pass today in Boston as we never received our Bio letter.. They reissued for Oct 23rd which just keeps the delay going... So we walked over to the office bldg where they do the Bios at... They said they don't normally do walk ins, but they were sympathetic to our situation with no real line... So we sweet talked our way in... Now we wait for the interview date!!! These delays have us 6 weeks behind the crowd... Lets just hope this goes faster now....

Government shutdown!!!!!!

Are the interviews for Oct still going to be done as scheduled with the government due to shutdown tomorrow? If anyone has heard anything please let us know.

Well my wife's interview is on Thursday. I guess I will find out then if they are open or not.

Regarding the government shutdown and how it will affect immigration. USCIS will still be operational as it's largely funded by the fees people pay. There may be some delays as they depend on other agencies that may be affected by the shutdown.

"Most employees working for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will stay on the job, which means applications for U.S. green cards, or legal permanent residency, should continue as usual. USCIS is funded primarily from fees people pay for immigration services and benefits, which means its employees are not dependent on Congressionally-approved appropriations bills."

Here is the Social Security contingency plan for a government shutdown. They are expecting to furlough their employees. LINK

The US postal office operates as an independent business so people will still be getting their mail. As for passports The State Department has funds to run things for awhile so people can still get passports until funds outside appropriations runs out, so hurry.

Also government shutdowns in the past have lasted on average 1-3 days. The longest one lasted 21 days. So while it's not common it also doesn't last long.

The Department of State says it has some funds outside the annual congressional appropriation. "Consular operations domestically and overseas will remain 100% operational as long as there are sufficient fees to support operations. How long do shutdowns usually last? Most last no more than three days. Some last less than a day. When was the longest shutdown in history? The longest was also the most recent: from Dec. 16, 1995, through Jan. 5, 1996. That's 21 days. How many times has the government shut down in the past? Since 1977, there have been 17 shutdowns, according to the Congressional Research Service. Source: 66 facts about the government shutdown

It is confirmed by USCIS themselves that even with the govt shut down it's business as usual for them. Let's hope that we see some movement in this thread this week because it's been mighty quiet in here.

Actually this is a bit faster than I thought... We need to see when the oath was scheduled, since we will be on a two-week trip in November...

Oath Ceremony

On October 1, 2013, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies.
