Thanks Jamericanlove. Those are all good suggestions. We're also going to talk with our post office about the NOA letter being delayed and the biometrics letter not getting to us to see what's going on. These are important documents and we're relying on them.

Oh no OM! That's terrible that you missed your first bio appt. sad.png Thank goodness you called when you did or you'd still be waiting till now. I suggest that you call every few weeks after you complete your biometrics to check if an interview has been scheduled if you don't get one shortly after you are inline. You definitely don't want lost mail to keep you from doing your interview. Unlike the biometrics, there's no real way of guessing when you should be getting the interview letter so you have to stay on top of it.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. If I were you I would try to do an early walk in as soon as the bio letter arrives. That may reduce your waiting time by 2 weeks or so. Find out if your ASC allows it and give it a shot. All the best for a speedy processing for you going forward.

Come back and give regular updates on your progress please. Once you have your interview date and time in your hand you can breathe a sigh of relief for a while. Also, if possible and you don't end up having a same day oath, I'd politely ask the IO if they know when you would be scheduled for your oath and if you can get a copy of the letter after the interview. Explain the mail problems and wait for it if you must. If they don't know call every week after the interview and ask for Level 2 officer. They'll be able to tell you the time and date of the oath and you can go even if the letter hasn't arrived.

Does anyone know if the Washington DC office conduct the celemony the same day as the test? What I heard, it does not.

Found my answer here:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=077f95fc30fc5310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=050d6c94d87c6210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Naturalization Ceremonies

The Washington Field Office rarely conducts same-day naturalization ceremonies but will do so for military N-400 filings, Section 319(b) N-400 filings, as well as on most N-400 re-examination days (second interview to pass the naturalization test).

I don't think they're going to reissue use a biometrics letter. Do you think we could take our email from them and our NOA letter and go to a walk-in appointment? I don't even know where the processing center is in Portland or what we need to bring. I feel really in the dark.

They should send you one. I'm not sure if you can do the biometrics without the letter. Call them back and ask them. Also ask if you can go to an infopass to get a hard copy of the letter. Ask too where your ASC is even though I'm sure that information is listed on the USCIS website under field office/ASC info.

Yay! One step closer. And YES, it looks like USCIS now puts people in line 1 month before their anniversary date when filing under the 90 day rule. It makes perfect sense because it ensures you don't have the interview before the anniversary date.

Updating Lara and laurarajesh. laurarajesh, can you please provide the rest of your info to fill in your timeline? Thanks.

Still waiting patiently lol have not seen even in-line notification yet. Hm.... mid sept will be one month before my 3rd anniversary. Anyone knows when will they schedule the in-line prior to the interview scheduled notice?

I posted this right above your post....

YES, it looks like USCIS now puts people in line 1 month before their anniversary date when filing under the 90 day rule. It makes perfect sense because it ensures you don't have the interview before the anniversary date.

Hi everyone

I have a question....

One of the requirements to bring at the interview is:

A Government issued photo identification.... meaning my Drivers License.

I don't drive

I have my DL but it says "Non Driver" but it expired.

Do I have to renew it and bring it with me?

I kinda forgot about it and my interview is coming soon

Thanks!

You can just get a regular state ID. You don't have to be a driver to get US citizenship. smile.png

I posted this right above your post....

YES, it looks like USCIS now puts people in line 1 month before their anniversary date when filing under the 90 day rule. It makes perfect sense because it ensures you don't have the interview before the anniversary date.

I thought you would be "in line" first, then interview is scheduled one month before 3rd. I was hoping to get the inline before mid sept. How long it takes to get in-line after biometrics?

Thank you for the interesting information and response depressedwife! We're outside the 15 month rule in biometrics appointments as his last biometrics appointment was over three years ago, so around 36 months.

I had him call the customer service center at 1-800-375-5283 according to the information provided on our case update status on the USCIS website that we registered for. The case status still showed initial review since July 12th. That's over 30 days processing for the biometric letter. Our NOA letter shows a priority date of July 15th so we're just before the 30 days priority date on that letter. I think there must be some processing mix up due to the dates not matching up on their USCIS website and with our NOA letter. This could also possibly be because of the fee waiver because there was already a week delay there with reviewing that.

The USCIS customer service put in a service request for us today when we called about out biometrics letter for our N-400, and they gave us a case number for the service request. They said we should receive a response from the processing center with jurisdiction over our case within 15 days from today. That would be the Portland office.

Since they didn't have information on our biometrics letter or an appointment for us I suspect once the Portland office gets the service request they're going to be sending us the letter in the next 15 days or at least some kind of response about the delay they're having. I can't imagine it would be much longer than that though. Has anyone ever heard of being delayed a biometrics appointment longer than a month or two at any office?

We must be a very interesting case for them to read. It's a book with several volumes really. I hope we hear from them soon. (L)

I had the same happened to me. My NOA is dated July 12, but I still don't have a date for biometric appointment... I called them on August 13 and officer told me that they would sent a request for missing biometrics appointment. Have not heard anything from them since then :(

I had my previous biometrics done in May 2012.
