we just sent ours off for my wife to get her citizenship, it arrived on the august 1st 2013 and they accepted it on august 2nd 2013 and they sent us the e-notice today(8-06-2013) with the case number. with the status showing initial review

I found this old post that was very helpful.

And now I understand why others have said to get your U.S. passport right away, especially if you plan to do any travelling since you surrender your green card and you surrender your USC with your passport application!

If there is anything incorrect in this please, post. Hope this helps!

Basic rule it, anything you bring in with you, you leave with it. If they want to keep anything, like your evidence or even passport, they can take a copy of it for their records, but you leave with all the originals that you brought in.

For what ever weird reason, my wife's IO wanted her original divorce papers, wife said, no way, it would cost me a fortune to get another certified copy, her IO said, okay. Why should she even ask for anything like that?

Been other reports of IO's wanting key documentation, like your green card, passport, evidence, etc., again without justifiable reason. You are not even legal without your greencard!

At the oath ceremony, that is different, you walk in with your greencard, have to surrender, and walk out with your USC certificate. But then you realize while you can enter this country with your foreign passport and greencard, you cannon enter this country with your foreign passport and your US certificate. So you rush to get your US passport, and hope and pray they don't lose your USC certificate in the process.

Then you learn you even have to keep your foreign passport if you want to enter into your home country.

Online status changed to "On August 7, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview. " Waiting for the letter.

I have a couple of questions:

1) How long does it take to receive the actual interview letter?

2) How many days in advance is this interview scheduled?

I have some foreign work related travel come up in the last minute for the last week of August/first week of September. I hope the interview date is after this. Many thanks.

I got my letter 7 days after the case status was updated on line (July 31st said it was scheduled for interview and I got the actual letter on the 6th of August)

2) How many days in advance is this interview scheduled?

My interview is on September 9th, they usually schedule them about a month out

I found this old post that was very helpful.

And now I understand why others have said to get your U.S. passport right away, especially if you plan to do any travelling since you surrender your green card and you surrender your USC with your passport application!

Online status changed to "On August 7, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview. " Waiting for the letter.

I have a couple of questions:

1) How long does it take to receive the actual interview letter?

I got my letter 7 days after the case status was updated on line (July 31st said it was scheduled for interview and I got the actual letter on the 6th of August)

2) How many days in advance is this interview scheduled?

My interview is on September 9th, they usually schedule them about a month out
