Huh?

Usually, people order and collect their police certificates to take/send to the interview. The embassy doesn't do that.

What stage are you at and what are you being asked to do?

I don't know how it is in Greece, but usually the one who requests the police certificate gets it (not sent to the US Embassy) either personally or through mail. Then it will be brought together with the other documents needed for the interview.

We just received our 3rd packet and it says we need to apply for the police records at the Greek embassy and they will not take the ones we have. Same goes for the country we are from.

Apparently now they are all sent directly to them.

POLICE RECORDS FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY: from a Greek Embassy to the US Embassy- does anyone know how long it takes for the embassy's to send this to each other?

go to your embassy's web site

look at the information pertaining to the police certificate.. probably on the IV page

then call the police department explaining what you want and ask how long it takes

every country is specific.. very few greeks around here, so that will be your fastest answer... by calling the police and finding out yourself

Already did :( they are telling us it takes around a month and a half to get this information back. I am wondering if we should send them what we have an still apply for the certificate as instructed and hopefully they will let us set up the interview while we wait for it.

His record is clean we have the paperwork to prove it they have just changed the rules and now they want it it directly from the greek authorities instead.

the paperwork to prove it is the police clearance certificate.. period

you can schedule your interview without it, but be prepared for a 221g refusal (rfe basically) and return with the correct document

as I understand it, you are allowed to reschedule your appointment one time.. if you do it twice you have to pay the fee again.. but.. not totally sure

I am thinking that is what we will do since we already have a version of that paper already.

What is the reason that he needs a police certificate from Greece when he lives in Albania if you don't mind me asking. My fiance is in Albania, but has been to Greece before so I am just wondering if I would need the same when the time comes.

If they have lived in any country for more than 6 months they need a police certificate from that country. It does not matter where they are applying.

Hey, did you get this sorted? I take it the embassy in Greece needed a letter from the embassy and also sent it directly?..... If so

a) what letter did you use

b) Was the UK visa unit ok with them sending it direct?

Until yesterday, this thread was 6 months old, and the OP is well beyond the stage mentioned, so the thread is being locked in order to avoid confusion. The most recent poster might consider sending the OP a personal message, because the OP has logged on to VJ in the last couple of weeks and might be available to retrieve a PM.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
