Visa Petition expiry date

Can someone tell me if the visa petition expiry date ceases to matter once packet 3 (DS230 in particular) has been filed or does it still affect you up until you get the visa in the post, so that if it was to expire the day before your scheduled interview date you would have to reapply? I was given no information on an expiry date but noticed there is one from this website. I think it's 4 months? It seems a little short considering how lengthy things can be with embassies.

As long as you have made contact with the embassy (such as sending DS forms), you don't need to worry about the expiry date. It's only when people don't follow up with the embassy that it matters, and even then I think you just have to get updated letters of intent.

somewhere in your paperwork, I think it is on the noa2 is the validity date

Thanks very much guys for the info. I actually searched all the documents I received from the relevant departments, including the NOA2, today and there is nowhere which states the expiration date. Can anyone tell me what the expiration date actually is? Some people say 3 months while others day 4.

It's 4 months and should be on your NOA2.

Ours says "Valid from xx/xx to yy/yy"

it will not say expiration date, it will say valid or something close

Thanks very much guys for the info, it's a good thing to know it isn't 3 months. I don't see a date anywhere on the approval. The main thing is I know now what the expiry date is. I assumed it was remain valid for quite some time.

In the box to the right of the Petitioner's name and address is the Notice Type... that is where it lists the validity dates.

Thanks very much! I will have to double check but I'm just happy to know that there is 4 months until it expires.
