This might be a stupid question, but should we be calling the NVC or DOS to find out our case number and everything? We got the notice that our case was shipped out on the 25th from the NBC, so about when should we expect it to arrive? We've called the past two days and they said they haven't received the case yet.

Have you called DOS to confirm the embassy has your package? Don't rely on the tracking trick here on VJ as it's not 100% guaranteed your case was in that package.

I checked CEAC site and it says case is "ready". I take it it means it's at the embassy already. What do you think?

You just have to keep calling USCIS til they say they have it. USCIS/NVC lost our file for over a month and seems the same thing happened to quite a few people! So keep calling and asking.

Also, read about a DS2001 form (http://www.**.com/immigrant-visa/form-ds-2001.pdf) should I send this now too? I do have all the documents ready. Or is it only for DCF?

Yes, you can start calling. Ideally, you wouldn't have to, and NVC would just mail you correspondence when they are ready to start processing your file. Of course, even if nothing goes wrong, this can take much longer than if you proactively seek out this information.

But, in reality, we've seen several cases here on VJ, just in the last few months, get misplaced or routed to places other than NRC, including ours.

If everything goes smoothly, your case should be at NVC in 7-10 days after shipment. NVC should be able to tell you when the case is received by them, even before they generate a case number.

If after 2 weeks after shipment your case is not at NVC, send email to NVCResearch@state.gov. If it's still not there after two weeks, send email to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. You will find here on VJ what all to include in those emails. If you really don't have any answers for that long, you may want to find out from USCIS if your petition is still at the local office, consider doing an InfoPass, start involving congressional lesions, Ombudsman,....

Here is hoping you find out that your case is at NVC this week! About a week later, you should get the case numbers (and give over your email addresses, if you want to).

NVC.

When you get a moment, start clicking through the links in post #1, reading all. There's tonnes of content in there... If'n yer on a handphone, remove the battery, come back on a PC.

Also, read about a DS2001 form (http://www.**.com/immigrant-visa/form-ds-2001.pdf) should I send this now too? I do have all the documents ready. Or is it only for DCF?

DS-2001 form not apply to yer casetype.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Call NVC for the NVC process. If it was indeed sent out when they say it was sent out, it should make it to NVC within the next few days and you should hear soon that it was received there. It's then another week or so before a case number is assigned.

While you're waiting, have you read the guide I wrote for EP and online forms?

I think you should call DOS.

Ok thank you, just checking! I've read your guide and it is super informative and helpful! I'm just anxious to begin this next step so I think I'm over reading into things and then I start questioning myself (hence why I asked a stupid question, hah).

Also just got an email from the NVC with the barcoded DS-3032. As I just mentioned, my wife emailed the NVC already using DS-3032 template but is still waiting for it to be accepted. We don't need to send the barcoded DS-3032 unless the first email gets rejected, correct?

ok so we received an RFE email stating that part 25 of the AOS does not correspond to the amount on the most recent federal tax return and W2 for my cosponsor.

He wrote the amount written on his W2 which is different from the amount on his federal tax return since he filed a joint tax return. Is there a resolution to this problem since these amounts can never be the same ? Thanks for your answers.

For info : he provided HIS tax return, individual W2 and some recent paystubs to the NVC in order to demonstrate his individual income... I don't understand why we got this RFE.
