I don't participate a lot but I've been reading a lot all your messages.

We sent the AOS (old version) from France on the 3rd of June and it arrived at the NVC on the 12th. My husband just called. The woman told him that they just reviewed the package and that we should receive an email today or tomorrow... The weird things is that she couldn't say if we got an RFE or if the case was finally complete...

Did your IV got accepted?

Yes I received a false checklist on the 7th of june asking me to send the AOS so I can consider it got accepted. Makes me think that I forgot to update my signature about it.

Thanks . You should call again to find out if anything missing from AOS. I called few times to make sure that I don't have anything missing and no checklist. Some IO's are polite and helpful, they usually tell you what is missing so that you can start collecting documents to send out.

First of all, I am not trying to complain, but only sharing my views in a logical manner. This makes me very confused about what NVC is doing. It looks like it’s taking them longer to review IV packages now than AOS, although if I understand correctly, the new vs. old AOS drama created backlogs for AOS reviews. I am not sure if they stopped reviewing IV packages during the new vs. old AOS drama break.

I totally agree with you. I sent my IV on 13th and still no update. no complain but it is taking longer then used to. May have to do with Old vs New AOS which is causing delay. Tired hearing that 20 business days script.

Thank you for your advice :) We'll see in 2 days if we still don't have any email. It's my husband who calls and he unfortunately hates that lol.

Someone just told me that when a case is complete, they don't send any email... Since the woman told my husband that we are going to receive an email... Does it mean we probably have an RFE ? Can someone confirm this ?

I dont think that is accurate. I believe you will get an email when your case is completed, although it may take a few days to a week to get that email but the operators should be able to tell u on the phone.

NVC told my husband he should send the IV packet to the embassy, since he paid IV fee but hadn't sent the packet yet.

Will it be okay for me to send the packet from Malaysia? Or it has to come from my husband in the US? I'm a little hazy on what happens with the IV packet. It has to be reviewed by the embassy before they set an interview date?

Don't believe NVC 100% on what needs to be done as they're not dealing with your case after it's sent out. But, even if the package does need to be sent to the embassy, it doesn't matter who it's sent from. It'd actually make more sense coming from the beneficiary as the IV package is all about the beneficiary.

Again, my suggestion: wait until the embassy has received your case from NVC (call DOS to find this out), then once they do, contact the embassy on the next steps.

For expedites, it differs by consulate/embassy. Some want all packages and fees before an interview date is scheduled, while others will just say bring all missing packages to the interview.

My husband just called again and they told him the same thing. The package has been reviewed but they don't have any information about the status :|

We updated the email address for this case. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change of mailing/email address, or change in personal situation that may affect the principal applicant's entitlement to a visa.

A review of the I-864, I-864EZ, I-864W or I-864A (if applicable) Affidavit of Support form and supporting documents that you submitted has revealed that you have provided incomplete information in your response or you have not responded to some questions.

You will need to follow the instructions for the Affidavit of Support (I-864) that are posted on the Department of State website at the following address: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. From there, you can fill out a new form online, print the new completed form and mail it to NVC. If you are the Petitioner, please read all instructions and complete the correct form to submit to NVC. An Affidavit of Support form is required to be submitted from the Petitioner on each case regardless of his/her income level.

NVC will hold this case until you send us these needed items. When you return the documents to NVC, please make sure that the documents submitted are in the correct order and stapled together, as stated in the I-864 Important Notice instructions.

We are waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case. The Principal Applicant and each derivative applicant that will accompany him/her to the United States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application. Please visit the following website for instructions on how to obtain and submit the Immigrant Visa Application:

Call the NVC and inquire that they indeed do not have your attorney on file and that they are sending you all the emails. Also check your spouse's email to see if anything was sent to there. You can double check that they have everything for the IV and AOS packages.

Awesome! Thanks for this. I tracked the packet via DHL and it was received by the embassy at noon today. Will wait for the embassy to get back to us, but my husband will be mailing the IV packet to me so either way if the embassy wants it mailed to them, it'll be faster coming from me since I'm in the country.

Thanks Saylin for your help!

Have you called DOS to confirm the embassy has your package? Don't rely on the tracking trick here on VJ as it's not 100% guaranteed your case was in that package.
