Silly Questions, part two

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the responses to my last questions. Here are a few more:

1. I went to college in Pennsylvania for one semester (4 months) and then later on lived with my fiance in Canada for just under 6 months. I never considered either of those two residences my home, and there were always plans to return to my home in Massachusetts. No utility bills were under my name in Canada, if that helps. Do I need to list those under the former residences section?

2. No matter how hard I press, I just can't seem to get the information all the way through to the 4th page (it's very very faint). How critical is it that I find a way to do that? Any suggestions?

1: I would list them if you got mail there etc. It's better to list and explain them upfront then to not list them and the USCIS to find out after the fact. I assume you're the US citizen so you won't need police records for each place, so no point in not listing them.

2: Download the PDF and fill that out, print 4 copies or hand fill out 4 copies, don't try to use the carbon paper copies.

1. If you look at the example form, they say to not leave gaps in the time frame:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-G-325A.pdf

2. Seems you're using copy paper to fill it out. Why not use the computer to fill (only have to type once) and then print? Each page is sent to a different place so all of them have to be legible.

I would definately list the Pennsylvania address as a former residence. However, what were the conditions under which you were in Canada for the six months? Did you still have utility bills and a rental agreement in Mass.? I'm not saying that either of these things should be the determining factor, but if you are visiting a place only, then in my opinion, it would be fair to say that that is not your place of residence.

MonopolyMoneyHoney,

1. I think there's no definitive answer to this question. The durations are long enough that they could be considered periods of residence if you wish to think of them that way, especially the 6 months living in Canada. Or you could consider them as temporary time away from your primary residence. I personally would not list the 4 months at college and would list the 6 months in Canada.

2. When I did the 4-part carbon forms I went over page 3 to make pages 3 and 4 legible. Much better to use a fillable PDF version of the form on a computer.
